TOPIC: The Honour Which Comes From God (Open Heaven for Teens 24 April 2024)

MEMORISE: He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. Psalm 91:15

READ: Isaiah 43:1-5

1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.

2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;

MESSAGE

David was a shepherd boy. He was the last child in his family and was not reckoned with, especially by his father. When Prophet Samuel visited his family to anoint the next king of Israel, his father didn’t bother to call him. The disaffection from David’s father and brothers did not deter him from loving God. He loved God so much that he wrote songs while in the wilderness with his father’s sheep. At the appointed time, God honoured him; not only did he reign as king in Israel, but he was also one of the greatest kings, and Jesus Christ came through his lineage.

God honours His children in diverse ways. It can be by giving them riches, showing up for them in times of trouble or giving them favour and promotion. All these can only be possible if you have been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and live a life that honours Him.

Beloved, put all your trust in God and honour Him with your life; He will surely honour you with His goodness.

KEY POINT
If you want God to honour you, you have to honour Him.

HYMN 14 – Standing On The Promises Of God

1 Standing on the promises of Christ our King,
Thro’ eternal ages let His praises ring:
Glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
Standing on the promises of God.

CHORUS
Standing, Standing,
Standing on the promises of
God my Saviour
Standing, Standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.

2 Standing on the promises that can-not fail,
When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail
By the living word of Go I shall prevail,
Standing on the promises of God.

3. Standing on the promises I now can see
Perfect, present cleansing in the blood for me;
Standing in the liberty where Christ makes free,
Standing on the promises of God.

4. Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
Bound to Him eternally by love’s strong cord,
Overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
Standing on the promises of God.
