20 As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
21 Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
24 Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

MESSAGE:

When I was younger, I thought that King David wrote the entire book of Psalms. However, when I became meticulous with my Bible study, I discovered that Asaph, a friend of King David, was also a talented psalmist. He prayed in his psalms and was often seeking understanding from God and expressing trust in Him during times of difficulty.

From today’s memory verse, you can deduce that Asaph had a lot of struggles as a young man. He, however, poured out his heart to God even while grappling with life’s challenges, and God granted him wisdom and peace amidst the challenges.

Beloved, you have to be honest and vulnerable with God in prayer. Sometimes, I see teenagers fold their hands, press their phones, or gist during prayers, and I shake my head in disappointment. A prayer session is an opportunity to be vulnerable with God and tell Him all your struggles so that He can help you. Don’t be nonchalant in the place of prayer.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to be honest and vulnerable with You in prayer.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Genesis 48:1-49:33; Matthew 15:12

HYMN 55: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;
Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,
“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:
Watch And Pray!”

2 Principalities And Powers,
Mustering Their Unseen Array,
Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:
“Watch And Pray.”

3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;
Wear It Every Night And Day
Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:
“Watch And Pray.”

4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;
Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;
All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,
“Watch And Pray!”

5 Hear, Above AlI, Hear Thy Lord,
Him Thou Lovest To Obey;
Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:
“Watch And Pra!.”

6 Watch, As If On That Alone
Hung The Issue Of The Day;
Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:
Watch And Pray.
