BIBLE TEXT: John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

MESSAGE:

For some days now, the whole world has been buzzing with activities in preparation for today. Many years ago, this season was chosen to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. However, many miss the point of the celebration – Salvation. Whenever I send gifts or wishes to my children around this time of the year, I say or write ‘Christmas’, not Xmas’. This is because Christ is the only reason for the season.

This explains why you won’t catch me sleeping, lazying or gallivanting around on Christmas day. We have made it a custom to be out on the streets and in churches preaching the gospel of Christ during Christmas in The Redeemed Christian Church of God.

So, before you eat and make merry today, share the gospel of Jesus Christ with your friends on your social media handles and in your community. Win souls for the Lord during this season: let the world understand the significance of His birth.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

ACTION POINT

Preach about Jesus to at least five persons today.

HYMN 4 – On A Hill Far Away

  1. On a hill far away
    Stood an old rugged cross,
    The emblem of suffering and shame;
    And I love that old cross
    Where the dearest and best
    For a world of lost sinners was slain.

CHORUS
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross;
And exchange it someday for a crown.

  1. Oh, that old rugged cross
    So despised by the world,
    Has a wondrous attraction for me;
    For the dear Lamb of God
    Left His glory above,
    To bear it to dark Calvary.
  2. In the old rugged cross,
    Stained with blood so divine,
    A wondrous beauty I see;
    For ’twas on that old cross
    Je-sus suffered and died,
    To par -don and sanc-ti-fy me.
  3. To the old rugged cross
    I will ever be true,
    Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
    Then He’ll call me some day
    To my home far away,
    Where His glory for-ever share
