BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 14-15; Mark 6:1-32

MESSAGE:
Smoking is an addictive habit that is dangerous not only to the smoker but also to Those around him or her. It is also a sin that God detests. I know you are thinking that it is not true because it was not mentioned in the Bible. Well, I can prove it to you.

Based on research, health practitioners have proven that many diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer et cetera are associated with smoking cigarettes. Smoking also damages the blood vessels by making them grow narrower and thicker which can lead to high blood pressure. Smoking cannabis, marijuana or weed is even worse. This leads to psychiatric issues due to its addictive nature. Now, God made us perfectly; when you do any of these, you damage the body He gave you and that is a sin. If for instance, you are meant to live for ninety years and you end up living for forty years, you have shortened your life span, thereby, reducing the degree of impact you are supposed to have on earth. You will also end up not fulfilling your purpose on earth. You can stop smoking, no matter how deep you are into it. Repent today and ask for help from a godly counsellor and the Holy Spirit.

KEY POINT:

Whoever shortens his lifespan on earth has committed suicide and committing suicide is a sin.

HYMN 20: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD

  1. 1 we walk with the Lord
    In the light of His Word,
    What a glory He sheds on our way!
    While we do His good will,
    He abides with us still,
    And with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
    Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
    Not a doubt or a fear,
    Not a sigh or a tear,
    Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share,
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
    Not a grief or a loss,
    Not a frown or a cross,
    But is blessed if we trust and obey.
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love
    Until all on the altar we lay;
    For the favor He shows,
    For the joy He bestows,
    Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
    We will sit at His feet,
    Or we’ll walk by His side in the way;
    What He says we will do,
    Where He sends we will go;
    Never fear, only trust and obey.
