READ: Matthew 7:15-20

15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.

18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Deuteronomy 12-15

MESSAGE:

I once travelled to America. From the moment I got there, I went from one church to another ministering, so I planned to rest on my way back home. I boarded a plane and was sitting next to an old woman whom I didn’t want to have any conversation with because it would deny me my rest. However, I rendered all the help she needed – I fastened her seat belt, placed her luggage in the upper compartment and released her table from the back of the opposite seat when she needed to eat. Before we landed, she asked, “Are you a Pastor?” I said, “Yes ma” and she said, “I knew it”.

The fruits you bear tell the kind of tree you are attached to. If it is impossible for a mango tree to bear an apple, then it is impossible for a child of God to behave like a child of the devil. Your character and good works are your fruits: hence, your family, classmates and people you come in contact with must be able to testify that indeed, you are a child of God.

REFLECTION

Can you be identified as a believer without saying so?

HYMN 18 – When We Walk With The Lord

  1. When we walk with the Lord,
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will
    He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

CHORUS
Trust and obey!
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
But to trust and obey.

  1. Not a shadow can rise,
Not a cloud in the skies,
    But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear,
Not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
  2. Not a burden we bear,
    Not a sorrow we share
    But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss,
Not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey
  3. But we never can prove
    The delights of His love,
Until all on the altar we lay,
    For the favour He shows
    And the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
  4. Then in fellowship sweet
We will sit at His feet,
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way,
What He says we will do,
Where He sends we will go,
Never fear, only trust and obey.
