TOPIC: Don’t Exaggerate [Open Heaven for Teens 26 March 2021]

MEMORISE: But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil. Matthew 5:37

READ: Psalms 120:2

2 Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Joshua 16-18; Luke 5:1-39

MESSAGE:

Exaggerating an idea or a situation gives an impression of dishonesty or lack of truth. I hear of some preachers and young leaders who exaggerate the revelations they receive from God in order to sound very spiritual. Also, while sharing testimony, some people exaggerate their experiences to the extent that the main testimony is lost. This is why we encourage people to say exactly what God did for them during testimonies time in our monthly and annual services.

Some years ago, I granted an interview to a Christian media house. The journalist asked how many people attended the December Holy Ghost Congress that year. I replied statistics showed that hundreds of thousands of people were present. Even though I saw a very large crowd that could have been up to a million because the Camp was filled to overflowing, it would have been a lie to say a million. It might seem like an exaggeration because I wasn’t sure and there was no head count to prove it. Never exaggerate because exaggeration is not saying the whole truth and there is nothing like a half-truth; you are either lying or telling the truth.

ACTION POINT:
Speak the truth always and keep quiet on matters you are unsure of.

HYMN 13: I’ve Found A Friend In Jesus

  1. I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
    He’s everything to me.
    He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
    The lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
    All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
    In sorrow He’s my comfort,
    In trouble He’s my stay,
    He tells me every care on Him to roll: (Hallelujah!)

Chorus:
He’s the Lily of the Valley,
the Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the Fairest of ten thousand
to my soul.

  1. He all my griefs has taken,
    and all my sorrows borne;
    In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;
    I have all for Him forsaken, and all my Idols torn,
    From my heart, and now
    He keeps me by His power.
    Though all the world forsake me,
    and Satan tempt me sore,
    Through Jesus I shall safely
    reach the goal, (Hallelujah!)
  2. He’ll never, never leave me,
    Nor yet forsake me here,
    While I live by faith, and do His blessed will;
    A wall of fire about me,
    I’ve nothing now to fear;
    With His manna, He my hungry soul shall fill.
    Then sweeping up to glory,
    to see His blessed face,
    Where rivers of delight
    shall ever roll (Hallelujah!).
