TOPIC: Feeling Left Out? (Open Heaven for Teens 26 May 2024)

MEMORISE: But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled. Matthew 26:56

READ: Job 19:13-21

13 He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

14 My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

15 They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

16 I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

17 My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.

18 Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

19 All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

20 My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

MESSAGE

To feel left out is an awareness, either real or imagined, of being excluded from the company or activities of others. This feeling can sometimes be overwhelming and frustrating. However, before you overthink and worry about feeling left out, you should know that Jesus Christ was once in your shoes (Matthew 26:55- 56), and He knows how you feel.

As worrisome as feeling left out may be, always look on the bright side. When your friends exclude you from their plans, especially if what they intend to do is not good, you should be happy because it will drive you closer to God. Job is a good example; he was left alone by his friends and family during his trials. They were not there for him when he needed them the most, but at last, his trials brought him closer to God and made him realise that all he had was God and that he could not put his trust in friends.

Do you feel left out and alone? I want you to know that you are not alone. The Bible says in Isaiah 43:2 that when you pass through the fire, it will not burn you, and when you pass through water, it will not overflow you, because God is with you. As He was present with the three Hebrew boys in the furnace of fire, He is with you.

KEY POINT
When you feel left out, remember that you’re not alone; Jesus is with you.

No, not one! no, not one!
And yet no friend is so meek and lowly–
