TOPIC: Ask [Open Heaven for Teens 29 December 2023]

MEMORISE: Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 7:7-11

7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

MESSAGE:

God has much to give His children, but sometimes, we don’t have what it takes to receive from Him. When God was about to change the situation of the widow of the late prophet in 2 Kings 4:1-7, Elisha asked her to borrow empty vessels and pour a bit of oil into all of them. Miraculously, the oil did not stop flowing until they were all filled. I believe that if she had gotten more containers, they would all have been filled.

The story of Elijah and Elisha is another remarkable one. Theologians have reported that while Elijah did seven miracles in his lifetime, Elisha performed fourteen outstanding miracles. When Elijah was to be taken away, he asked Elisha to make his request. Elisha requested a double portion of his master’s anointing, and he got it.

I once asked God to give me the double portion of the anointing on Elisha, Peter, Paul, and our Lord Jesus Christ but He said I was asking for trouble because people would not allow me to rest. You are not foo young to covet spiritual gifts and thirst for the power of the Holy Spirit.

KEY POINT:

You are not too young to have spiritual gifts. Ask, and you will be given.

HYMN 13 – Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour

 1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Saviour Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

 2. Let me, at Thy throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.

 3. Trusting only in Thy merit
Would I seek Thy face
Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
Save me by Thy grace.

 4. Thou, the spring of all my comfort,
More than life to me.
Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
Whom in heaven but Thee
