TOPIC: Fear Is Ungodly (Open Heaven for Teens 29 December 2024)
MEMORISE: And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. Luke 1:30
READ: 2 Timothy 1:7
7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
MESSAGE:
If fear is a good thing, I believe the angel who appeared to Mary wouldn’t have said, “Fear not.” As humans, there are situations that can stir up fear in us and make us question the existence of God. One time, I remember travelling on an airplane when suddenly, a storm arose in the clouds. The pilot tried navigating through the storm, but he lost communication with the control tower. Serious pandemonium broke out on the airplane as all the passengers started screaming and lamenting because we didn’t know if we would land safely or not. I became afraid and asked God why He didn’t tell me that yesterday was the last time I would see my son, who had asked for a toy airplane as a gift on my return home.
Then, God assured me that there would be no plane crash; He just wanted to get my full attention as He knew I would be busy once the plane touched down. Suddenly, fear vanished, and I became calm as God and I spoke for 45 minutes before the storm ceased.
Bible scholars have said that the words ‘fear not’ appear in the Bible 365 times, which implies that for every day of the year, God is standing by you and telling you to trust Him.

O’er The World’s Tempestuous Sea;
Guard Us, Guide Us, Keep Us, Feed Us,
For We Have No Help But Thee,
Yet Possessing Every Blessing
If Our God Our Father Be. - Saviour, Breathe Forgiveness O’er Us;
All Our Weakness Thou Dost Know;
Thou Didst Tread This Earth Before Us,
Thou Didst Feel Its Keenest Woe;
Lone And Dreary, Faint And Weary,
Through The Desert Thou Didst Go. - Spirit Of Our God, Descending,
Fill Our Hearts With Heavenly Joy,
Love With Every Passion Blending,
Pleasure That Can Never Cloy;
Thus Provided, Pardoned, Guided,
Nothing Can Our Peace Destroy.
