Topic: Flocking Together [Open Heaven for Teens 29 January 2021]

Memorise: Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character”. 1 Corinthians 15:33

Read: 2 Corinthians 6:14-18

14 Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

15 What harmony is there between Christ and Belial ? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?

16 What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

17 ”Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.”

18 ”I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”

Bible In One Year: Exodus 16-18; Matthew 19:16-30

MESSAGE:

There is a popular saying that birds of the same feather flock together. Another adage says ‘Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are’. These sayings are very true because no matter who you claim to be, the friends you keep say a lot about your personality. I remember when I had not given my life to Christ, I had friends with whom I used to take alcoholic drinks. After I became born again, they paid me a visit one day. Rather than serve them alcoholic drinks, I gave them soft drinks. They got the message and stopped visiting and that led to the end of our friendship. Although it was painful to lose them at that time, I can say that I have gained great friends who have helped me to grow in this Christian race.

You need to choose your friends wisely. Your standard should be Jesus. Anyone whose lifestyle is not like that of Christ should not even be an acquaintance because your friends will either take you closer to Jesus or far from Him.

Key Point:

Make a list of your friends today and do away with the ones who don’t have Jesus.

Hymn 13: I’ve Found A Friend In Jesus

  1. I’ve found a friend in Jesus,
    He’s everything to me.
    He’s the fairest
    of ten thousand to my soul;
    The lily of the Valley,
    in Him alone I see
    All I need to cleanse
    and make me fully whole.
    In sorrow He’s my comfort,
    in trouble He’s my stay,
    He tells me every care
    on Him to roll: (Hallelujah!)

Chorus:
He’s the Lily of the Valley,
the Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the Fairest of ten thousand
to my soul.

  1. He all my griefs has taken,
    and all my sorrows borne;
    In temptation He’s my strong
    and mighty tower;
    I have all for Him forsaken,
    and all my Idols torn,
    From my heart, and now
    He keeps me by His power.
    Though all the world forsake me,
    and Satan tempt me sore,
    Through Jesus I shall safely
    reach the goal, (Hallelujah!)
  2. He’ll never, never leave me,
    nor yet forsake me here,
    While I live by faith,
    and do His blessed will;
    A wall of fire about me,
    I’ve nothing now to fear;
    With His manna,
    He my hungry soul shall fill.
    Then sweeping up to glory,
    to see His blessed face,
    Where rivers of delight
    shall ever roll (Hallelujah!).
