TOPIC: Who Can Worship? [Open Heaven for Teens 29 June 2023]

MEMORISE: O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise, even with my glory. Psalm 108:1

READ: Psalms 24:3-6

3 Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?

4 He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

5 He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

6 This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 141-150

MESSAGE

According To our Bible reading, there are categories of those who can offer acceptable worship unto God. The first is those who are holy (Psalm 24:4).

It doesn’t matter if you have the most sonorous human voice or are very skillful in playing musical instruments, if you don’t meet the requirement of holiness, don’t bother to worship God because it will be an abomination to Him. Perhaps, this is the reason some people don’t get blessed despite their service, praises and worship to God. Whenever worship is done with the fear of God and humility of heart, blessings definitely follow.

Another category of worshippers is those who make it a habit. Habitual worshippers don’t offer conditional worship, in the sense that they don’t only praise God after He has done something for them or when in the gathering of other believers. Rather, they worship God in and out of season: it is their lifestyle.

KEY POINT:

Habitual worshippers do not need to be in the mood of worship before they worship God; it is their lifestyle.

HYMN 9 – O Jesus, I Have Promised

  1. O Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    Be Thou for ever near me,
    My Master and my Friend:
    I shall not fear the battle
    If Thou art by my side,
    Nor wander from the pathway
    If Thou wilt be my Guide.
  2. O let me feel Thee near me;
    The world is ever near;
    I see the sights that dazzle,
    The tempting sounds I hear;
    My foes are ever near me,
    Around me and within;
    But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
    And shield my soul from sin.
  3. O let me hear Thee speaking
    In accents clear and still,
    Above the storms of passion,
    The murmurs of self-will;
    O speak to reassure me,
    To hasten or control;
    O speak and make me listen,
    Thou Guardian of my soul.
  4. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
    To all who follow Thee,
    That where Thou art in Glory
    There shall Thy servant be;
    And, Jesus, I have promised
    To serve Thee to the end;
    O give me grace to follow
    My Master and my Friend.
