TOPIC: Still With Sinful Friends? [Open Heaven for Teens 3 April 2023]

MEMORISE: And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. Ephesians 4:24

READ: Ephesians 4:17-24

17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Samuel 8-11

MESSAGE

Before I became born again, I had many friends, some of whom were sailors. When they returned from their trips, they usually brought me assorted alcoholic drinks. So, when my other friends wanted to drink alcohol, they would visit me because they knew I would have a lot in store. They would often hide under the excuse of spending time with me, whereas all they wanted to do was drink. I never knew I was the king of alcohol and their supplier. After my conversion, when my old friends visited me and I gave them soft drinks, they protested. Eventually, they stopped coming, and God gave me like-minded, godly people as replacements.

Are you still keeping old friends, or have they noticed the changes in you and dumped you? The truth is, if you have had an encounter with Christ, you will lose most of your sinful friends because it would be difficult to relate with the new you. Don’t be afraid of losing old friends such that you find yourself hiding your newfound faith from them.You are linked with the greatest Friend if you have met Jesus.

KEY POINT:

If you are born again, and all your old friends are comfortable around you, your salvation is not genuine.

HYMN 5 – Take My Life And Let It Be

  1. Take my life and let it
    Consecrated Lord to Thee
    Take my moment and my days
    Let them flow ceaseless praise.
  2. Take my hands and let them move
    At the impulse of Thy love
    Take my feet and let them be
    Swift and beautiful for thee
  3. Take my voice and let me sing
    Always only for my king;
    Take my lips and let them be
    Filled with messages from Thee.
  4. Take my sliver and my gold
    Not a mite would I withhold
    Take my intellect, and use
    Every power as thou shalt choose.
  5. Take my will and make it Thine,
    It shall no longer mine:
    Take my heart, it is Thine own;
    It shall be Thy royal throne,
  6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
    At Thy feet its treasure store;
    Take myself, and I will be
    Ever, only, all for thee
