TOPIC: Melody Or Noise? (Open Heaven for Teens 3 December 2024)
MEMORISE: Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs; for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. Amos 5:23
READ: John 4:23-24
- But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
- God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
MESSAGE:
God delights in the praises of His children, but there is a kind of praise that He considers noise. John 4:24 says:
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
You cannot worship God when you are still subject to the dictates of the flesh. Whenever you sing to God, it must be from a sincere heart that is void of doubt, malice, et cetera. Anyone who does otherwise is only making noise, and as today’s memory verse says, God will not hear him or her. The Lord is earnestly looking for worshippers who will worship Him in Spirit and in truth. Are you one of them?
Worship or praise should not be done as though you are being forced; it should be from the stirring of the Holy Spirit. If you have anger, hatred, or bitterness towards another fellow, purge your heart first, or else your worship will only be noise to God and not a melody.
ACTION POINT:
List the things that can make your praise and worship a noise to God and repent of them today.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR
Daniel 11:2-35, 1 John 3:7-24
HYMN 46: O Lord My God When I’m In Awesome Wonder
- O Lord My God,
When I In Awesome Wonder,
Consider All The Worlds Thy Hands Hath Made
I See The Stars,
I Hear The Rolling Thunder,
Thy Pow’r Thro’out
The Universe Displayed:
Refrain:
Then Sings My Soul,
My Saviour God To Thee;
How Great Thou Art!
How Great Thou Art!
Then Sings My Soul,
My Saviour God To Thee;
How Great Thou Art!
How Great Thou Art!
- When Through The Woods
And Forest Glades I Wander,
And Hear The Birds
Sing Sweetly In The Trees;
When I Look Down
From Lofty Mountain Grandeur
And Hear The Brook
And Feel The Gentle Breeze; - And When I Think
That God, His Son Not Sparing
Sent Him To Die,
I Scarce Can Take It In;
That On The Cross,
My Burdens Gladly Bearing,
He Bled And Died
To Take Away My Sin - When Christ Shall Come
With Shouts Of Acclamation,
And Take Me Home,
What Joy Will Fill My Heart!
Then I Will Bow
In Humble Adoration,
And There Proclaim,
My God, How Great Thou Art!
