TOPIC: Prayer, An Effective Tool [Open Heaven for Teens 30 October 2022]

MEMORISE: James 5:16-18

  1. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
  2. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months.
  3. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Timothy 4:1-22, Jeremiah 27-28

MEMORIZE: Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6

MESSAGE:

Prayer is a very effective tool in having an encounter with God. Believe me my child, God answers prayers. Unfortunately, there are so many ideologies in the world today that downplay the efficacy of prayer. I remember when we were building our first auditorium.

There were birds that kept disturbing us. They were so many that all we did including the cutting of the trees didn’t work. It then occurred to me that I hadn’t spoken to my Father about it. I did and suddenly, eagles came from nowhere to deal with the birds; that was the last I heard of them. There are so many testimonies that I can tell you, not just about myself but also about my children.

Don’t get me wrong, you need to work as much as you pray. You cant sleep all day, miss classes or not do your homework, then lock yourself up and pray all through the day – you would fail woefully. Study hard and pray hard because you have a Heavenly Father that answers prayers.

ACTION POINT:

Spend time to ask God for your needs today.

HYMN: Pass Me Not A Gentle Saviour

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Saviour,
    Hear my humble cry,
    While on others Thou art calling,
    Do not pass me by.

CHORUS:
Saviour, Saviour,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at Thy throne of mercy
    Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contrition,
    Help my unbelief.
  2. Trusting only in Thy merit,
    Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit,
    Save me by Thy grace.
  3. Thou the Spring of all my comfort,
    More than life to me,
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee?
    Whom in heaven but Thee?
