TOPIC: Trick Of The Devil (2) (Open Heaven for Teens 31 August 2024)

MEMORISE: Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

READ: Isaiah 14:12-16

  1. How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
  2. For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
  3. I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
  4. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
  5. They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;

MESSAGE:

Today, I will teach about another trick of the devil, which is pride. Pride is a total package that comes with arrogance, self-satisfaction, boasting, haughtiness, conceit, et cetera. Pride is dangerous because it is silent, and it sometimes poses as confidence. Thus, a proud fellow often thinks that he or she is just being confident and bold to air his or her opinions.

When pride is seated in the heart of a fellow, it is extremely difficult to curb. Pride is a sin which originated from satan, who thought that he could overthrow God. As a result, he was sent out of heaven alongside his agents. A proud fellow can be easily singled out because pride cannot remain hidden. The speech of the proud is always laden with the pronoun ‘I’. A proud fellow displays an unwarranted attitude of overconfidence and inordinate ambition; he or she always wants to have the last say.

Beloved, the Bible highlights the end of the proud, and it is destruction. Learn from what happened to satan and his cohorts.

PRAYER POINT: Father, please forgive me if I have displayed any form of pride in my actions and thoughts.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Job 37:1-39:30; 2 Corinthians 4:13-5:10

HYMN 44: Deeper, Deeper In The Love Of Jesus

  1. Deeper, Deeper In The Love Of Jesus
    Daily Let Me Go;
    Higher, Higher In The School Of Wisdom,
    More Of Grace To Know.

Refrain:
Oh, Deeper Yet, I Pray,
And Higher Ev’ry Day,
And Wiser, Blessed, Lord,
In Thy Precious, Holy WorD.

  1. Deeper, Deeper! Blessed Holy Spirit,
    Take Me Deeper Still,
    Till My Life Is Wholly Lost In Jesus,
    And His Perfect Will. [Refrain]
  2. Deeper, Deeper! Tho’ It Cost Hard Trials,
    Deeper Let Me Go!
    Rooted In The Holy Love Of Jesus,
    Let Me Fruitful Grow. [Refrain]
  3. Deeper, Higher, Ev’ry Day In Jesus,
    Till All Conflict Past,
    Finds Me Conqu’ror, And In His Own Image
    Perfected At Last.
