5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 2 Chronicles 1-3, John 12:1-50
MESSAGE:
A student goes through some sort of quarterly or yearly evaluation through tests and examinations, in order to ascertain how well he or she has fared in a subject before moving to the next level. As a child of God who hopes to become better and reach greater heights, you must constantly evaluate yourself either by accepting people’s honest evaluation of you and working on your weaknesses.
Some teenagers ignore or hide from self-evaluation; this ought not to be. When you evaluate yourself from time to time, it shows you are humble and ready to improve. Never get too comfortable particularly at any level spiritually, there is always room for improvement and this can only happen when you evaluate yourself in line with Gods word daily. Any Christian who does this will not be caught unawares by rapture. Today’s memory verse encourages that you should evaluate yourself often because it will protect you from thinking that you are something when you are not.
ACTION POINT:
Examine yourself daily to know whether you are still in the faith.
HYMN 11: IN CHRIST ALONE
- In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone; this solid ground;
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm;
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ - In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
‘Til on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live, I live. - There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin’s curse has lost its grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Bought with the precious blood of Christ - No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life’s first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I’ll stand.
