MEMORISE: For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Proverbs 23:7a

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 4:9-13

9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?

10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.

11 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear.

MESSAGE:

Abel gave an offering to God that showed his thoughtfulness. He brought the best of his produce to God as an offering, while his brother, Cain, brought a dishonourable offering. After God rejected Cain and his offering, he devised a means to kill his younger brother. I know that if he had friends at that time, one might have said he was influenced by the wrong association; however, this was not the case. Rather, Cain’s action was a clear product of his own imagination.

Today’s memory verse has established that you are the product of your thoughts. Someone once said, “You will attract the material equivalent of your most dominant thought.” This means that what you think about of ten is what you will eventually do or become. Your thoughts will always influence your choices, decisions, and actions.

The Bible says that you speak and behave out of the abundance of the heart. Most of the time, character is judged by the words that come out of your mouth, the actions initiated by you, or your reactions to situations.

My dear child, watch your thoughts and imaginations.

PRAYER POINT

Holy Spirit, please purify my thoughts; help me to think like You always.

HYMN 16: Breathe On Me

1. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Fill me with life anew,
That I may love what Thou dost love,
And do what Thou wouldst do.

2. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Until my heart is pure,
Until with Thee I will one will,
To do and to endure.

3. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
Till I am wholly Thine,
Until this earthly part of me
Glows with Thy fire divine.

4. Breathe on me, Breath of God;
So shall I never die,
But live with Thee the perfect life
Of Thine eternity.
