TOPIC: Secluded Place And Time [Open Heaven for Teens 6 April 2021]

MEMORISE: And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. – Matthew 14:23

READ: Matthew 14:22-23

  1. And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
  2. And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Judges 18-19; Luke 10:25-42

MESSAGE:

It is sad that many people know about prayer but they don’t pray. They can teach others about it but hardly find time to practice it. This shouldn’t be so with you. When my wife and I were engaged to be married, we would post letters back and forth professing our love for each other, there were no telephones then. No matter how long it took for one party to get a reply to his or her letter, he or she would wait for it. This is the same situation when praying. Your love for God should gear you to communicate with Him no matter how small or big it may seem. The faith you have in Him will keep assuring you that He has heard even when you are not getting an immediate response or manifestation.

A prayer strategy we see in our memory verse is that of time and venue. Jesus prayed on the mountain and in the evening. He had disciples who were with Him often but when it was time to talk to His Father, He would go to a secluded place in order to avoid distractions. Praying in groups is good but find time to pray alone so that you can receive fresh revelations from God. This year, look for quiet places and time to consistently meet with God every day.

ACTION POINT:

Avoid any distractions such as friends and phones while communicating with your Father.

HYMNS: All Hail The Power Of Jesus Name

  1. All hail the pow’r of Jesus’ name!
    Let angels prostrate fall.
    Bring forth the royal diadem,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  2. Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,
    Who from His alter call;
    Extol the stem of Jesse’s rod,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  3. Ye chosen seed of Israel’s race,
    A remnant weak and small,
    Hail Him who saves you by His
    grace,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  4. Ye Gentile sinners, ne’er forget
    the wormwood and the gall;
    Go, spread your trophies
    at His feet,
    And crown him Lord of all.
  5. Let every kindred, every tribe,
    On this terrestrial ball,
    To Him all majesty ascribe,
    And crown Him Lord of all.
  6. O that with yonder sacred throng
    We at His feet may fall,
    Join in the everlasting song,
    And crown Him Lord of all.
