41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
MESSAGE
The devil always targets God’s children; therefore, the need to be vigilant at all times cannot be overemphasized. According to our Bible reading for today, Jesus admonished His disciples to watch and pray because He understood that watching and praying is important when it comes to preventing sin. He spent a lifetime watching His human nature so closely that He never sinned. He knew that once He sinned, he would become vulnerable to the devil.
Many Christians spend a lot of time praying without watching. While it is good to pray, it is better to watch and pray. To be watchful is to pray constantly and avoid sin. It also involves carefully and prayerfully selecting those you associate with and being intentional about discerning the kinds of preachers and counsel you listen to.
Beloved, be careful of the conversations you engage in and ensure that you edify your spirit with the word of God so that you will be able to withstand temptations.
