TOPIC: Great Joy [Open Heaven for Teens 6 May 2021]

MEMORISE: Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Hebrews 1:9

READ: 1 Peter 1:8-9

  1. Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
  2. Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 12-13, Luke 24:36-53

MESSAGE:

A brother came to my office some years ago. He introduced himself as an Evangelist, but he had two wives. He reeled out testimonies of miracles in his ministry. Then he made the mistake of asking counsel from me on how he could excel in ministry. I told him Thank God for miracles, signs and wonders but Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23, He will ask workers of iniquity to depart from Him. He looked at me with surprise and wondered how the testimonies he shared were related to rejection by Jesus. Seeing he had not got the message, I plainly told him Sir, you have two wives. Perform all the miracles in the world, you will still end up in hell. He was very angry and left. Years later, he came back to thank me. He said You are the best friend I have ever had. That day I came for counselling, I was angry, but now I know better. I was continually haunted by your words until I made restitution.

Do you constantly search yourself? Do you go to people whom you know will not lie to you to give you an assessment of your Christian stand? When you do these, you need to take steps to make the necessary adjustments.

KEY POINT:

Salvation brings great joy.

HYMN: Christian Seek Not Yet Repose

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
    Hear thy guardian angel say,
    “Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray!
  2. Principalities and powers,
    Mustering their unseen array,
    Wait for thine unguarded hours:
    “Watch and pray!
  3. Gird thy heavenly armour on,
    Wear it every night and day,
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    “Watch and pray!
  4. Hear the victors who overcame;
    Still they mark each warrior’s way,
    All with one sweet voice exclaim,
    “Watch and pray!
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou lovest to obey;
    Hide within thy heart His word,
    “Watch and pray!
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may be sent down:
    “Watch and pray!”
