READ: Matthew 14:14-19

  1. And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.
  2. And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals.
  3. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
  4. And they say unto him, We have here but five loaves, and two fishes.
  5. He said, Bring them hither to me.
  6. And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Philippians 2:1-30 , Isaiah 34-36

MESSAGE:

Compassion shows you are kind. It means putting yourself in someone else’s situation to feel what they feel so you can respond to the situation appropriately. In todays Bible text, Jesus was moved by compassion, so, He provided food for all the people that came to listen to Him. If you’re truly a child of God, you will feel compassion for the less privileged. During our special programmes such as the Annual Convention, we have various avenues to meet the needs of people apart from the word of God being preached. We give free food, medical services, free hostels to the youths et cetera.

If you preach to a poor classmates, he may forget your message but if you give him food after preaching, the gesture may make him accept Christ. If anyone around you falls sick, join hands with him or her in prayers then, take the person to the hospital. Don’t behave as if you don’t care, help them in any way you can.

KEY POINT:

True compassion will change the world.

HYMN: Let Others See Jesus In You

  1. While passing through this world of sin,
    And others your life shall view,
    Be clean and pure without, within,
    Let others see Jesus in you.

CHORUS
Let others see Jesus in you,
Let others see Jesus in you;
Keep telling the story,
be faithful and true,
Let others see Jesus in you.

  1. Your life’s a book before
    their eyes,
    They’re reading it through
    and through;
    Say, does it point them to the
    skies,
    Do others see Jesus in you?
  2. What joy ’twill be at set of sun,
    In mansions beyond the blue,
    To find some souls
    that you have won;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
  3. Then live for Christ both
    day and night,
    Be faithful, be brave, and true,
    And lead the lost to life and light;
    Let others see Jesus in you.
