MEMORISE: And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. Joshua 24:19

READ: Deuteronomy 7:14-15

  1. Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.
  2. And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Corinthians 15:1-58, Proverbs 9-10

MESSAGE:

One of the most important qualities of the Lord that every child of His should know is that He is a jealous God. God is jealous to the extent that He cannot share you with the devil. Some people claim that they have given their lives to Christ, yet, live like unbelievers. God is not pleased with such a lifestyle. You are either for Him or the devil, you cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24 ).

Some people allow inanimate things such as phones, social media and gadgets to compete against God for their time. The time they ought to spend with God is lavished on the things they love, so much so that it becomes an idol in their lives. God does not like to compete with anything in your life. You either give Him your all or nothing at all. However, its best to give Him your all.

Also, God can be jealous when you give the glory that belongs to Him to another. He said in Isaiah 42:8 that He will not share His glory with any other. When you achieve success in your endeavours, to whom do you give the glory? Do you attribute your success to your hard work or intelligence?

KEY POINT:

God wants you to Himself; He will not share you with anyone.

HYMN: Now We Thank We All Our God

  1. Now thank we all our God
    with heart and hands and voices,
    Who wondrous things hath done,
    in whom His world rejoices;
    Who from our mothers’ arms
    hath blessed us on our way
    with countless gifts of love,
    and still is ours today.
  2. O may this bounteous God
    through all our life be near us,
    with ever joyful hearts
    and blessed peace to cheer us,
    to keep us in His grace,
    and guide us when perplexed,
    and free us from all ills
    of this world and the next.
  3. All praise and thanks to God
    the Father now be given,
    the Son and Him who reigns
    With them in highest heaven
    the One Eternal God,
    whom heaven and earth adore;
    for thus it was, is now,
    and shall be evermore.
