TOPIC: King Hezekiah [Open Heaven for Teens 7 March 2024]

MEMORISE: He trusted in the LORD God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor any that were before him. – 2 Kings 18:5

BIBLE TEXT: 2 Kings 20:5-6

5 Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.

6 And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.

MESSAGE:

Hezekiah was a remarkable leader who served as the king of Judah during a time of great crisis. His story is one of faith, obedience, and the power of prayer. King Hezekiah was known for his unwavering faith in the Lord. He put his trust in God, and this set him apart from other kings.

King Hezekiah knew that the only way to find peace and comfort during difficult times was to turn to the Lord in prayer. From the Bible reading, we see the power of prayer in action. King Hezekiah was ill, and he cried out to the Lord in prayer. He reminded God of his walk before Him. He was able to say this because he faithfully served God. There will be times you will have to produce a strong case before God in the place of prayer. Isaiah 41:21 says, “Produce your strong reason…” Therefore, if you have no strong reason, what will you present?

My child, learn from Hezekiah, serve God faithfully so that when you pray, it will be effective and effectual.

REFLECTION
How faithful are you serving God?

HYMN 8: Lead us heavenly father, lead us
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us O’er the world’s tempestuous sea; Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us, For we have no help but Thee, Yet possessing every blessing If our God our Father be.

2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us; All our weakness Thou dost know; Thou didst tread this earth before us, Thou didst feel its keenest woe; Lone and dreary, faint and weary, Through the desert Thou didst go.

3. Spirit of our God, descending, Fill our hearts with heavenly joy, Love with every passion blending, Pleasure that can never cloy; Thus provided, pardoned, guided, Nothing can our peace destroy.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Numbers 8:1-9:23 Mark 13:14-37
