MEMORISE: And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: Exodus 14:15

READ: 1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Ruth 1-4, Luke 11:29-54

MESSAGE:

When I was younger, I loved studying because I liked to perform excellently and get the accolades of my father. I remember when I scored 70 in a subject and ran to my father in excitement. He looked at the result and asked, Why didn’t you score 80? I was sad that he didn’t appreciate my effort, yet, I planned to do better. The following term, I scored 80 and expected to be patted on the back; he asked again Why didn’t you score 90? Rather than get discouraged, it gingered me to work harder in order to score 100 in all subjects.

This is how God is to His children; He smiles when you achieve big things especially when He gets the glory but He won’t make you settle there. He will motivate you to do greater things. In John 14:12 , Jesus said that we would do greater things. What you have achieved so far in your studies, home, fellowship, neighbourhood or church is nothing compared to what God has in store for you. There is room to do better. God is saying to you, come up higher.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to perform better in every aspect of my life.

HYMN: CHRISTIAN SEEK NOT YET REPOSE

  1. Christian, seek not yet repose,
    Hear thy guardian angel say,
    “Thou art in the midst of foes:
    Watch and pray!
  2. Principalities and powers,
    Mustering their unseen array,
    Wait for thine unguarded hours:
    “Watch and pray!
  3. Gird thy heavenly armour on,
    Wear it every night and day,
    Ambushed lies the evil one:
    “Watch and pray!
  4. Hear the victors
    who overcame;
    Still they mark each
    warrior’s way,
    All with one sweet
    voice exclaim,
    “Watch and pray!
  5. Hear, above all, hear thy Lord,
    Him thou lovest to obey;
    Hide within thy heart
    His word,
    “Watch and pray!
  6. Watch, as if on that alone
    Hung the issue of the day;
    Pray, that help may
    be sent down:
    “Watch and pray!”
