TOPIC: Rapturable? [Open Heaven for Teens 9 May 2023]

MEMORISE: For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 1 Thess. 4:16

READ: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

MESSAGE

One truth we should take cognizance of from today’s text is that only those that are alive in Christ and the dead in Christ will rise at rapture. The “dead in Christ” are those who died as Christians, not sinners Or backsliders: they would partake in the rapture. Interestingly, only genuine Christians anticipate this event.

Beloved, if you want to be caught up in glory on the last day when He comes again, you must live your life in accordance to the will of God. To be rapturable, you must be a child of God and take a stand for Jesus Christ, irrespective of the persecution, tribulations, trials, and temptations you face. Shun every distraction in this world because it will only make you forget about the glorious event that will come after this world. Be vigilant, so you will finish the Heavenly race and make it when the trumpet sounds.

PRAYER POINT
Father, please help me make it to heaven in Jesus ‘name.

HYMN 15 – Onward, Christian Soldiers

  1. Onward, Christian soldiers!
    Marching as to war,
    Looking unto Jesus,
    Who is gone before;
    Christ, the Royal Master,
    Leads against the foe;
    Forward into battle,
    See His banners go.

CHORUS
Onward, Christian soldiers!
Marching as to war,
Looking unto Jesus,
Who is gone before.

  1. At the name of Jesus
    Satan’s host doth Ilee;
    On then, Christian soldiers
    On to victory!
    Hell’s foundations quiver
    At the shout of praise:
    Brothers, lift your voices,
    Loud your anthems raise.
  2. Like a mighty army
    Moves the Church of God:
    Brothers, we are treading
    Where the saints have trod.
    We are not divided,
    All one body we
    One in hope and doctrine,
    One in charity.
  3. Crowns and thrones may perish
    Kingdoms rise and wane;
    But the Church of Jesus
    Constant will remain:
    Gates of hell can never
    ‘Gainst that church prevail;
    We have Christ’s own promise-
    And that cannot fail.
  4. Onward then, ye people,
    Join our happy throng;
    Blend with ours your voices
    In the triumph song:
    “Glory, praise and honour,
    Unto Christ the King”,
    This, through countless ages,
    Men and angels sing.
