Topic: Serve God Alone [Open Heavens for Teens 14 June 2019]
Memorise: “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. “ – Matthew 6:24
Read: Matthew 6:22-24
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Bible In One Year: Ezra 6-8, John 21
MESSAGE:
God demands full commitment from all His children. In the Kingdom, there is no room for partial commitment. In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says it is impossible to serve two masters. Some people outwardly ask for but immediately start thinking of other ways to have what they asked God for. Rather than stay committed to God in faith, they go in search of other options. If God were to grant that request, you would give credit to the other option you considered. God does not share His glory with anyone.
The strength of the Roman empire could be traced to their level of commitment. If while at the battle field, any soldier that displayed a sign of weakness or disloyalty, such a soldier was instantly killed by fellow soldiers. As a result, they conquered every nation they went to war with. What is your level of commitment to God? Are you one leg in, one leg out? Is your commitment dependent on how good and hitch free things are? To what extent have you obeyed God? Do you have people you look up to aside God? It is very dangerous to have other options aside God. He is more sufficient to meet all of your needs. Serve Him alone.
Key Point:
The one who is partially committed to God remains on a spot as long as the commitment is partial.

Hymn 11:
1 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus,
Ye soldiers of the Cross!
Lift high His royal banner,
It must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory
His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished,
And Christ is Lord indeed.
2 Stand up, stand up for Jesus,
The solemn watchword hear;
If while ye sleep he suffers,
Away with shame and fear.
Where’re yeah meet with evil,
Within you or without,
Charge for the God of battles,
And put the foe to rout.
3 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
Stand in His strength alone;
The arm of flesh will fail you,
Ye dare not trust your own.
Put on the gospel armour,
And watching unto prayer;
Where duty calls, or danger,
Be never wanting there.
4 Stand up! Stand up for Jesus!
The strife will not be long;
This day the noise of battle,
The next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of glory
Shall reign eternally.
