Topic: Sin Starts From Within [Open Heavens for Teens 27 June 2019]
Memorise: “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” – Psalms 66:18
Read: Psalms 66:17-20
17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
Bible In One Year: Job 10-12; Acts 8:1-25
MESSAGE:
There is a wide difference between saying you are a Christian and truly being a Christian. Majority of Christians are just church goers and only hearers of the word, not doers.
Being true a Christian is a thing of the heart. If in your heart, you are considering how you and that boy will commit sin, there is fire on the mountain and you need to quench it immediately because it means your Christianity is slipping away. If you fantasise about stealing money and spending it; watch out, the devil is already out to get you. If you can counter and clear every sinful thought from your heart as it comes, it will be very difficult for you to fall into sin.
To ensure that sinful thoughts don’t stay in your heart, avoid exposing your mind to certain things. You also need to be accountable to a spiritual leader. Find a truly godly person that you can open up to. Make sure that the person is of the same sex as you, especially if the thoughts are sexual thoughts.
Action Point: Feed your mind with the word of God so as to kill your flesh and avoid falling into sin.

Hymn 6:
- Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Our shelter from the stormy blast,
And our eternal home: - Under the shadow of your throne
Your saints have dwelt secure;
Sufficient is your arm alone,
And our defense is sure - Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received its frame,
From everlasting you are God,
To endless years the same. - A thousand ages in your sight
Are like an evening gone
Short as the watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun. - Time, like an ever-rolling stream,
Soon bears us all away;
We fly forgotten, as a dream
Does at the opening day. - Our God, our help in ages past,
Our hope for years to come,
Still be our guard while troubles last,
And our eternal home!
