STUDY THE SCRIPTURES – 2
MEMORY VERSE: “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 TIMOTHY 2:15).
Yesterday on ‘Study The Scriptures – 1’, we looked particularly at the importance of the Scriptures. Today, we shall look at how to study the Scriptures.
In his book, Counsel To His Students, C. H. Spurgeon said, “Peruse a good book several times and make notes and analysis of it. A student will find that his mental constitution is more affected by one book thoroughly mastered than by twenty books he has merely skimmed. Little learning and pride come of hasty reading.” This is quite true; good books, such as the Bible, should be carefully studied, even repeatedly.
One way of studying the Bible is reading it systematically from Genesis to Revelation in one year, using a good Bible commentary and concordance. Try to annotate (add explanatory notes to the texts) as you read the Bible. In other words, be an active reader – make notes, draw conclusions, ask and answer questions on the text.
Dear friend, though many youths are now more interested in watching videos and listening to audios than reading, my counsel to you is: Read! Read!! Read!!!
QUOTE: Read! Read!! Read!!!
CHALLENGE: Great men and women of God passionately studied the Scriptures.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to make time to study the Scriptures
