GOD UPHOLDS THE GODLY

MEMORY VERSE: “They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge” (Psalm 94:21, 22).

TEXT: PSALMS 94:18-22

The great Evangelist, Billy Graham stated, “We should not covet or expect the praise of ungodly men…the very fact that they are inclined to persecute us is proof that we are ‘not of the world.’” Truly, the Christian believer cannot commit the care and protection of his life to finite man who is not only limited in power, but is also given to change. Is it not surprising that it was the same Potiphar that Joseph found grace in his sight that also threw him into prison due to the false accusation of his wife? God help us.

Like a tree bearing ripened fruits is under constant attack, so a true child of God must be continually harassed by agents of Satan. The righteous life of a Christian portrays light that uncovers the works of darkness; and consequently, attracts reprisals from the kingdom of darkness. The important fact, however, is that “the Lord is my defence…the rock of my refuge.” Despite innumerable tribulations, persecutions and afflictions, those who hide in Christ will be shielded as our God will uphold them forever.

PRAYER: I will trust you forever, O God, despite fears and dangers.

CHALLENGE: Hidden in Christ, you are safe forever.
