TAKE A STAND 1

KEY VERSE: “But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up” (Daniel 3:18).

BIBLE TEXT: DANIEL 3:13-21

Eutropius, Cleonicus, and Basiliscus suffered martyrdom. In AD 308, their pagan governor tried to turn them from Jesus. He invited Eutropius to dine with him, but the Christian refused, quoting the biblical statement, “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked” (Psalm 1:1). The ruler offered the three a large amount of silver, but they refused, telling the governor that Judas lost his soul for silver. The governor then subjected them to torture, but they refused to abandon their Lord. Finally, he crucified Eutropius and Cleonicus, for which they gave thanks that they had been found worthy to die in the same way as Jesus did. Basiliscus was held in prison in hope that the deaths of his companions would weaken his resolve. When he remained steadfast, he was beheaded.

When it comes to choosing between renouncing the faith and live versus holding on to Christ and die, we must decide to be like the three Hebrews, instead of denying the faith. Anyone who denies Christ here will be disowned by Him in the hereafter.

QUOTE: Decide to be like the three Hebrews

CHALLENGE: If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.

PRAYER FOR TODAY: Help me Oh Lord, to stand for you always.
