PARENTAL PRAYERS

BIBLE TEXT: PSALM 144:7-12

MEMORY VERSE: That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace” (Psalms 144:12).

The prayer in our memory verse today was written by a concerned parent. Many parents in Bible and contemporay times said prayers which transformed the lives of their children. In his book, The Power of a Praying Parent, Stormie Omartian

says, “When we pray, we bring that power to bear upon everything we are praying about, and we allow the power of God to work through Our

powerlessness. This implies that through prayer, parents can bring the power, wisdom and knowiedge of God to bear upon the situations affecting their children. Before Samuel was born, his mother, Hannah prayed for and dedicated him to God. He became a great leader. Susannah Wesley also prayed one hour a day for each of her 17 children. No wonder two of them, John and Charles, became mighty instruments in God’s hand.

Youths should provide the atmosphere at home for their parents to pray without distractions. The Wesley children allowed their mother to focus on her prayers.Prayer is a spiritual bulwark against the forces darkness. Endeavour to participate in fanily devotion, where your father ministers to the household.

CHALLENGE: Participate in family devotion.

QUOTE: Prayer is a spiritual bulwark
