A TOUCH BROUGHT HEALING
“And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace and be whole of thy plague” (Mark 5:34).
BIBLE TEXT: MATTHEW 9:18-22
In a-2009 study by Matthew Hertenstein, it was found out that participants were effectively able to communicate eight out of twelve emotions by using touch alone. The result of this study implies that touch is a better way of conveying emotions than facial expressions and voice. Our sense of touch is also designed to communicate clearly and quickly. However, faith touch is unbeatable.
Our text shows the woman with the issue of blood demonstrating the significance of a touch of faith. Healing is one of the by-products of Christ’s redemptive work. God’s healing power must never be relegated to a set of rules or methods. Jesus healed people in a wide variety of ways in the Gospels, showing that the key is not any certain procedure, but rather coming to Him by faith. We are to touch Him by defining our faith like this woman did. Faith in His sacrifice on the cross for our total redemption is just enough. “But he was wounded for our transgression, he was bruised for our iniquities…and with his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5).
