Text: Psalm 118:5-14 (KJV)
Key Verse: “I called upon the Lord in distress; the Lord answered, and set me in a large place”(Psalm 118:5).
MESSAGE:
The writer of the song titled ‘Through it All’, scripted: “I thank God for the mountains; and I thank Him for the valley; And I thank Him for the storms He brought me through; For if I’d never had a problem, I wouldn’t know that God could solve them, I’d never know what faith in His word could do”.
Then the chorus: “Through it all, through it all; I’ve learned to trust in Jesus; I’ve learned to trust in God; through it all; through it all; I’ve learned to depend upon His word”.
The writer of the song, Andraé Edward Crouch, passed away on January 8, 2015, his prodigious talent spanned multiple musical genres and reached across cultural, racial and even spiritual boundaries. In every situation, we must appreciate God, and be grateful.
The Psalmist reflected on his troubles; he looked back at the distress he went through and all the persecutions he suffered in the hands of the wicked, who even wanted him dead. But through it all, he gave thanks to the Lord because he was delivered from those who surrounded him like bees.
He never feared the faces of his enemies because he understood that God was working for him and Israel in order to carry out the purpose for the existence of Israel. Trusting in man and princes will give one limited accomplishments; but total confidence in the Lord would always win victory for any believer.
So, in periods of crisis, do not allow doubt and fear to affect your faith mentality. Regardless of the storms, be assured that they will cease. Hold onto the word of God that you believe; it will restore your hope; rejuvenate your enthusiasm, brighten your countenance, reinvigorate your faith and fill your heart with strength to push on. Cheer up. Never be sad; never be despondent.
Thought For The Day: The depth you are rooted in the word determines the extent you can withstand storms of life.
