TOPIC: Kings Are Not Saved By Their Large Sizes Of Their Armies (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 14 February 2021 Anthem)

OPENING PRAYER: Father, please manifest Your power in my life all the time.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leader should ask the members about the story of Simon the sorcerer.

MEMORY VERSE: There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. – Psalm 33:16

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Kings 20:1-21 (KJV)

1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.

2 Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.

3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.

4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.

6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

8 Let all the earth fear the LORD: let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.

9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.

10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the heathen to nought: he maketh the devices of the people of none effect.

11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.

13 The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.

14 From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.

15 He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.

16 There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.

17 An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;

19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.

20 Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.

21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Benhadad, the king of Syria gathered thirty-two kings and their chariots to fight the king of Israel according to our today’s text, because he saw Israel to be small in size likewise her men of war. Little did he know that by going to mock Israel he was in turn mocking their God. When the God of Israel stood up and fought against him, he came and pleaded for leniency. Romans 8:31 has this to say: “…if God be for us, who can be against us?” Nothing can be against you, if your trust is in God. It does not matter your size, provided that God is on your side, you are on the path of victory. Please note this: Whether you are a secular king with a kingdom that you oversee or you are a King and Priest in God’s kingdom according to Revelation 1:6 and 5:10, note that one with God is majority.

LEADERS DIARY:

LESSON AIM:
To assure believers that God is still mighty to deliver, no matter the size of the enemies.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, members should be able to:
i. Stand for God irrespective of the circumstances or attacks from the pit of hell.
ii. Stop magnifying their challenges but God in front of the challenges.

TEXT REVIEW: 1 KINGS 20:1-21
i. By strength shall no man prevail.
ii. Strength will fail at battle but God never fails.

TEACHING METHOD:
Use the discussion method.

TIME MANAGEMENT:
Share the teaching time using the suggested time schedule.

LESSON OUTLINES: There is one outline:

1. THOSE THAT WERE DELIVERED IN WAR BY GOD IRRESPECTIVE OF THEIR SIZES

1. GIDEON: He discomfited the Midianites with only three hundred men by God’s instruction. – Judges 7:2; 5-7
2. KING JEHOSHAPHAT: He appointed a praise team at the war front and by the time they finished singing, there was no war to fight. – 2 Chronicles 20:20-24
3. ABRAHAM: He went and rescued his nephew (Lot) with his 318 (three hundred and eighteen) trained men. – Genesis 14:5-17

On the contrary, when God departed from the camp of the Israelites because of Achan’s sin (Joshua 7:1-11); Despite the large size of the forces of Israel, they were utterly defeated by the small army of Ai.

ACTIVITY:
What will happen to the person that God is not his ally?

SUMMARY:
Allow God to be your ally always in any battle of life.

CONCLUSION:
It does not matter the small size of your army, you will surely defeat your adversary if you have God as your ally. However, God will only come to your aid if sin is not found in you or in your camp.
