MEMORY VERSE: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? – 1 Corinthians 6:19

BIBLE TEXT: 1 Peter 1:15-19 (KJV)

15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

LESSON INTRODUCTION: For us to fully understand today’s topic, we shall throw light on some fundamental terms like ‘be Holy’, ‘Temple’, Holy Spirit ‘ and ‘Temple of the Holy Spirit ‘.

What is holiness? This is the state of being sacred, sanctified, pure etc.

What is a temple? Simply put, this is a house of worship. So, the temple of the Holy Spirit means, the house in which the Holy Spirit lives.

Who then is the Holy Spirit? This is the Spirit of the Living God. He is the third in Trinity. The Holy Spirit is known by other names such as the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of Truth, The Teacher etc.

In the current dispensation, believers are the mobile carriers of the Holy Spirit and not the church buildings. God demands holiness from us because we are the house that the Holy Spirit lives in. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” – 1 Corinthians 6:19

TEXT REVIEW: 1 Peter 1:15-19
i. Holy living is a command from God to all of His children.
