TOPIC: The Prince Of Peace (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 31 March 2024 Anthem)

OPENING PRAYER: Oh Lord of peace, reign afresh in my life in Jesus’ name.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: Leader should remind members that to every faithful friend, there are character traits to be expected.

MEMORY VERSE: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called WONDERFUL, COUNSELLOR, THE MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, THE PRINCE OF PEACE.” – Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

BIBLE TEXT: Mark 4:37-39 (KJV)

37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.

38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: The Hebrew word “Shar Shalom” means – the Prince of Peace – i.e. the one who removes all peace hindering factors and restores or secures total peace and calmness in all situations. The Prince of Peace brings spiritual harmony in the restoration of an individual with God.

LESSON AIM: To make members understand that Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to know: that Jesus is the Prince of Peace. that He alone can bring calmness to stormy situations.

TEXT REVIEW: Mark 4:37-39

a. Storm of life can arise at any time, at any location.
b. It does not care to know who you are; it even arose inside the boat where Jesus was.
c. Be assured that Jesus will always calm every storm against His own.
d. Storm must obey the Prince of Peace.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: JESUS THE PRINCE OF PEACE

i. Jesus is the storm Stiller, no matter how fierce the storm can be – Mark 4:39.
ii. He gives peace that passes all human understanding – Philippians 4:7.
iii. He is our Mediator, Advocate and Intercessor – I Timothy 2:5.
iv. He is our Justifier; He gives us access into God’s presence – Romans 5:1-2.
v. He is our Saviour and High Priest – Hebrews 7:25-26.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: OTHER CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PRINCE OF PEACE

i. Jesus has made us Peace Makers – Matthew 5:9.
ii. His peace is a key to living a lifestyle that brings fulfilment – Romans 12:18; Hebrews 12:14.
iii. He has restored our broken relationship with God – Ephesians 2:14-18.
iv. No amount of good works can save from the bondage of sin and its consequences.
v. His peace unites and edifies the body of Christ – Romans 14:19.
vi. His peace no one can offer and it removes fears and troubles – John 14:27.
vii. In Him we have peace to overcome the world and all tribulations – John 16:33.

ACTIVITY: Discuss what the Prince of Peace offered at the grave of Lazarus.

SUMMARY: Do not look for peace elsewhere. Jesus is our peace.

CONCLUSION: Having known that Jesus Christ is our peace, let us lay all our burdens, anxieties and fears at His feet and entrust our lives to Him, that we may experience His perfect peace in our hearts and minds – Philippians 4:6-7.

  1. Lord Jesus thank You for the sacrifice You made that gave us peace.
  2. Prince of Peace, please step into every stormy issues in our lives.
  3. Prince of Peace, please intervene in every home experiencing storm and let your peace begin to manifest.
  4. Prince of Peace, please visit every nation undergoing turbulent situations and let your peace reign.
  5. Prince of Peace, please visit the persecuted church with Your peace.

GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK

MONDAY: Mark 4:39, talk to Jesus about that storm.

TUESDAY: John 14:27

WEDNESDAY: John 16:33

THURSDAY: Romans 15:33.

FRIDAY: I Corinthians 14:33.

SATURDAY: Everyone who acts unrighteously, shall the wind sweep away – Hosea 4:19.

SUNDAY: God can send wind to your adversaries – Psalms 147:18, Psalm 35:5.
