BIBLE TEXT: I John 3:1-3

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Unconditional love simply means love without strings attached. Love you offered freely and want nothing more than the happiness of others. In John 3:16, Bible says God loves us unconditionally by releasing His son to pay the penalty for sin we committed. Every believer should follow the example of our Saviour Jesus as He died for the world in order to win it.

Characteristics of Agape:

ii. It fulfil it’s other’s needs above their own needs.
iii. It does not make others uncomfortable.
iv. It does not envy neither is it jealous of other’s success or progress.

vi. It endures patiently until God responds.
vii. It hopes for good things to happen through other people.
viii. It never fails.
ix. It believes all things.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO

  • No strings attached. Loving someone unconditionally means that there are no ulterior motives.
  • Jesus’ love brings support to the believer – John 11 :35-44.
  • Jesus honours believers’ requests. So, as believers we can request for Christ’s help – Matthews 8:1-3,

LESSON FIFTEEN (15)
TOPIC: HEARING FROM GOD

MEMORY VERSE: “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it … ” Isaiah 30:21a

Bible Text: 1 Samuel 3:4-10

LESSON INTRODUCTION: It is very important for every believer to hear from God. The relationship between parents and children should be the kind of relationship between God and believers. Parents talk to their children, their children hear and respond. The truth is that the Almighty God is always speaking but unfortunately, our minds are too crowded to hear His voice.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: In our Bible reading for today, we have three entities involved;

  • The Almighty.
  • Eli -The Priest and
  • Samuel – The young Lad.
God chooses to speak to anyone, anytime and anywhere. He does not need anyone’s permission. Samuel was not expecting God to come and talk to him, but He came, He did not recognise God’s voice, he mistook the voice of God for Eli’s voice. Saul of Tarsus did not expect Jesus to stop him on his way to Damascus.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE
WHO CAN HEAR FROM GOD?
Hearing the voice of God follows an intimate relationship with Him. From our Bible reading for today, we saw that initially, Samuel did not recognize the voice of God but in the process of time, he grew in his relationship with God and he was able to hear Him expressly. Therefore, who are those that can hear from God?
i. Those who desire to hear God.
ii. Those who read, study and meditate on the Word of God regularly – Rom. 10:17; Joshua 1:8 and Psalm 1:1-3.
iii. Those who hate sin and love righteousness – Hebrews 1:9.
iv. Those who love to fellowship with the Holy Spirit – Romans 8:14.
v. Those who love to be still before God- Psalms 85:5.
vi. Those who obey His commands.
vii. Those who are humble and teachable – James 4: 10; 1 Peter 5:5.
viii. Those who have faith in God- Hebrews 11:6.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO
HOW TO HEAR FROM GOD?

  • You must have a relationship with God.
  • Hunger and thirst for Him – Matt.5:6; Psalms 42:1.
  • Read and study the Word of God – II Timothy 2: 15.
  • Position yourself like Samuel to be still before Him.
  • Be opened because God can speak in diverse ways.
  • Through prayer and fasting – Mark 9:29.

BIBLE TEXT: Acts 16:17-18; 1 Kings 13:14-18

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Discerning of spirits is a special gift of the Holy Spirit that enables someone to know the spirit operating at a certain time, event or place, whether it is really the Spirit of God or another spirit that is speaking or operating. This gift silences demonic manipulation, enthrones righteousness and validates believers’ sonship in Christ. Every believer should crave to flawlessly and impactfully distinguish between the utterances of true spirits and false ones.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE
MANIFESTATION OF DISCERNING OF SPIRITS
This is God revealing to believers details of the presence or the non presence of spirits i.e. the Holy Spirit and demons and also knowing the identity of demons in operation -Acts 16:17-18.

What is the Manifestation of Discerning of Spirits and the Benefits?
I. It is divine information and power that flows from God to the believer to know the operation of spirits.
II It also endows the believer to know which strategy is required to win the battle of spirits.
iii. It also confirms believers’ sonship and right in Christ – Heb. 13:5; I Pet. 5:5.
iv. Believers are motivated and empowered to cast out evil spirits and enthrone righteousness – Mark 16:17;9:38-39.
v. It helps to judge dreams, visions, miracles, prophecies, etc.
vi. It aids the growth of the church.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO
DANGERS OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DISCERN

  • Exposure to attack and deceit – I Kings 13:17-18.
  • Loss of vision and calling -I Kings 13:23-24.

Though it is always given after a victory is recorded as in the case of the children of Israel after crossing the Red Sea and the case of Hannah after giving birth to Samuel.
