LESSON FOUR (4)
TOPIC: THE SANCTIFIER: JESUS
BIBLE TEXT: Ephesians 1:1-14
[1]Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
[2]Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
[4]According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5]Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6]To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
[7]In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
[8]Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
[9]Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
[10]That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
[11]In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
[12]That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
[13]In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
[14]Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
MEMORY VERSE: 2 CORINTHIANS 3:18″ But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
LESSON AIM: The children will believe that God sent Jesus to pay the price for their sins by dying on the cross
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: You can have a close relationship with God through Jesus
INTRODUCTION: Dear children of God, do you know what it means to be adopted? It means that someone takes as their own a child who was not born to them biologically. It is a meaningful and special thing. God has created all of us, but He has also adopted us. God has loved us from the very start. He has blessed us and chosen to love us and adopt us through Jesus’s sacrifice
PROGRESSION OF EVENT: EPHESIANS 1:1-14
- Paul was trying to explain to some who believed in Christ how much God loved them, so he wrote them a letter.
- God our Father loves us so much and chose us before He even made the world
- He chose us to be holy and as his adopted daughters and sons.
- He knew that He was going to use Jesus as the fulfillment of a strange mystery.
- So we can have all the good things from being princes and princesses with Jesus in God’s kingdom.
- This is what God wanted and it pleased Him
- This brought praise to God because of the wonderful grace he gave us through Christ Jesus the One He loves
- We are set free by the blood of Jesus and the forgiveness of sins
GOSPEL CONNECTION: Jesus is the only Son of God whom God sent to die for the sins of the World. Jesus was the only sinless Man who lived on earth who willingly went to the cross to die for your and my sins. He died, was buried, and resurrected on the third day. This gift was what Jesus gave for your sins to be forgiven when you confess them. (John 3:16)
CLIMAX: When a person believes in the Lord Jesus, there is assurance of a future with Him.
CONCLUSION: God’s will is that all would come to know Him and serve Him.
CHALLENGE: As a child of God, you have the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ so you should continually seek to know and understand God’s Word. Jesus’s gift of Salvation will help you live this life on earth with power and become all that God desires you to be.
CARRY-OVER ACTIVITY: Having a quiet time will enable you to walk closely with God and pass His truth on to others.
INVITATION: Jesus is the Sanctifier and can wash you clean if you accept Him as Lord and Saviour (Acts 4:12)
