TOPIC: WAYS GOD BLESSES A MAN (BEYOND IMAGINATION)

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 32:22-31
[22]And he rose up that night, and took his two wives, and his two womenservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
[23]And he took them, and sent them over the brook, and sent over that he had.
[24]And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.
[25]And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.
[26]And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
[27]And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
[28]And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
[29]And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
[30]And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
[31]And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

LESSON AIM: Ask God to change any negative thing in your life

INTRODUCTION: Ephesians 3:20 Now “to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that work in us. Solomon asked God for wisdom and God gave him wisdom and riches, Jacob asked for blessing, 1 Kings 3:13, and God gave him a changed name to Israel Genesis 32:28. God can give you blessings beyond your imagination only believe in Him and ask in faith.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
A. And Jacob arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed over the ford of Jabbok.
B. He took them, sent them over the brook and sent over what he had. Jacob had fear of what his brother Esau will do to him after he stole his blessing of birth right. What fear do you have as a result of your Wrong doing or bad character? Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23.
C. Then Jacob was left alone and he wrestled with him until the breaking of day. God loves Jacob and He sent an angel to him because He does not want him to remain in his guilty state and fear for his life. The same God loves you and cares about you, so He sent you Jesus his perfect son to deliver you from our sins. Jesus gave His blood and died  for you then rose up the third day. Hebrew 9:22b
D. When He saw He did not prevail again Jacob. He touched the socket of hip and his hip was out of joint as he continued to wrestle with him.
E. And He said “let me go for the day break, but he said “I wil not let you go unless you bless me.

CLIMAX: So He said to him “what is your name? He said Jacob and He said your name shall no longer be called Jacob but Israel for you have struggle with God and men and have
prevailed. Jacob received a new name, a blessed name that gave him beyond imagination blessing. He became the lather of the twelve tribes of Israel from a cheater to the father of the tribes of Israel. Jesus has come to give you a new name that changes all form of bad names you bear, to change you from bad to good, good to best, and to give you eternal life.

CONCLUSION: And He blessed him there so Jacob called the name of the place Penniel “for I have seen God face to face and my life is preserved

CHALLENGE: As a child of God, pray through any situation in your life that you need a change and God will give you beyond imagination blessings

INVITATION: Jesus in your life is your first step if you want to receive beyond imagination blessing. Accept Him as you savior today. Romans 10:13
