Serve God with your Time, Substance, Energy and Talents

A. And Jesus being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came with alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she poured it on His head

For it could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor And they criticized her sharply (Have you been angry at someone for doing good because your think he/she is showing off or vice-verse). That is a sin. Sin is whatever you
do that displeases God. Roman 3:23 says “for all have sinned and Romans 3:26 says that the wages of sin is death. But God loves you and does not want you to be separated from Him. So He gave His Son Jesus to die for your sin. Jesus gave His Life and blood for the payment for the punishment of your sin Hebrews. 9:26.
C. But Jesus said “Let her alone, why do you trouble her for she has done a good work for me “… for you have the poor with you always”
CLIMAX: She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint my body for burial.
CONCLUSION:”Assuredly, I say to you wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world what she did will be mentioned for a memorial”,

On mountain bleak or on the stormy sea
Through billows roll , He will keep your soul.
Your Heavenly Father watches over you.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. New Jabez was more honourable than his brothers and his mother called his name Jabez saying “Because I bore him in pain”.
Pain is a terrible thing! But there is something that is more terrible and that is sin. Sin causes a greater and everlasting pain. The Bible says we are all sinners Romans 3:23; Psalm 51:5. Sin makes God unhappy that the punishment for sin is death Romans 3:2b. But God loves you and does not want you to die in your sin. John 3:16, so He gave you Jesus Christ
perfect Son, Jesus came and died on the cross, He gave his blood and life to take your punishment for sin, Hebrews 9:22b. He died, was buried and He rose the third day. God loved Jabez and did not want him to cause pain.
B. And Jabez called on the God of Israel “oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my territory'” that Your hand would be with me, and that I may not cause pain'”
Jabez called on God knowing that it is only God that can change his bad situation to good. He believed in God’s power to transform his life. Do you also believe in God and that He can change your bad situation to good, failure to success?
CLIMAX: So God granted him what he requested.
CONCLUSION: Matthew 7:8 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds and to him who knows will be find.
CHALLENGE: John 16:24 until now you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive “that you joy may be full.” As a child of God, always ask God for what you want. God loves you and cares about your needs (let children pray for their needs; cloth, healing, new friends, school fees, their parents, success in school etc.)
INVITATION: God answers the prayer of His children. Receive Jesus today so that He can hear you and also answer prayers. Romans 10: 13.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Always give to the needy:
INTRODUCTION: (Tell children to close their eyes). As I say, a word, think of someone it describes poor … lonely … mean… Odd… teased … worried.. sad. Did you think of someone for each word? “I’m just a kid” you might say. What can I do? That is what the little boy in our story thought.
PROGRESSION OF EVENTS
A. Thousands of people ran to find Jesus perhaps because they had heard about or seen miracles He had done during His first two years of ministry.
B. Jesus and His disciples were looking for a quiet place to rest.
C. When Jesus saw the crowd, He was moved with compassion. Jesus knows the needs in the life of each of them – that they need someone to love them, their need for peace, joy, healing and eternal life with Him. Jesus can meet all their needs and that is why God sent Him to the world John 3:16.
Jesus came to restore peace and forgiveness from your sin so that you can have peace and joy. He did this by giving His blood so that your sins are taken away. After He died, Jesus
came back to life and He is in Heaven today, wanting to give you His peace and joy and the promised eternal life with Him.
D. The disciples, seeing the physical need of the people encouraged Jesus to send the crowd away to buy food.
E. When Jesus told the disciples to feed the people, they began to calculate needed cash
F. The disciples, searching, for food among the crowd returned to Jesus with a little boy who had five loaves and two fish.
G. Jesus blessed the food (thanked His heavenly father) divided the food among the disciples and commanded them to share to the crowd.
CLIMAX: Everyone ate and was filled.
CONCLUSION: The disciples gathered twelve baskets full of leftovers. (one for each disciple or all for the little boy to take home to his mother).
CHALLENGE: Why didn’t Jesus simply make food by His power? He wanted the little boy and the disciples to be part of the miracle. He wanted them to share the joy of meeting the needs of so many people.Isn’t it exciting to know that God can use you to meet the needs of others? Will you let God use your five and two (two hands, five fingers each, two eyes, two ears, two lips, two feet, five toes each). As you share the little bit you have with someone else. God can multiply it in ways you can’t even imagine. If you don’t have food or clothes to share, give smiles, play with others. Be rich in good works! Not only will God help you to see the needs of others, He will give you the strength and ability to help meet those needs.
