TOPIC: REVISION 5 /SUMMARY
- Revise the Previous lessons with the children
- Ask them question to ensure lesson have been well understood
- Tell your class to review the previous lessons during the weeks before the revision day
SUMMARY OF LESSONS 27 – 31
LESSON TWENTY SEVEN (27)
TOPIC: SERVE GOD
BIBLE TEXT: Joshua 24:13-15
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 100:2 Serve the Lord with gladness, come before His presence with singing.
LESSON AIM: To let the children know it pays to serve God
CENTRAL TRUTH: Serving God will attract blessings.
INTRODUCTION: Service is the action of helping or doing work for someone. Every child should know that they are created to serve God and bring God pleasure in the way they live their lives daily. As we all know that service come before reward. Note that you cannot serve God and mammon Matt 6:24.
(A) WHAT IS SERVING GOD
- Doing what He says – Deuteronomy 27:10
- Submitting to God totally – Matt 12:50
- Presenting our bodies a living sacrifice. Romans 12:1-2
- Participate in an acceptable and pleasing worship to God.
(B) WAYS TO SERVE GOD
- In spirit and truth. John 4:23
- With our substances Proverbs 3:9-10
- In fear and trembling Psalm 2:11
- In the days of your youth Ecclesiastes 12:1
- With all your heart. 1 Samuel 12:24
- Blamelessly. Genesis 17:1
- With gladness Psalm 100:2
- With your talents.
- Pleasing and acceptable way.
C). REASONS WHY WE CHOOSE TO SERVE GOD
- Serving God allows us to discover and develop our spiritual gifts – 1 Corinthians 12
- Serving God allows us to experience miracles- John 2.
- Serving God allows us to experience the joy and peace that comes from obedience- 1 Peter 4:10-11
- Serving God helps us to be more like Jesus – Matthew 25:40
- Serving God surrounds us with other Christians who can help us follow Jesus. Heb. 10:24-25
- Serving God increases our faith – Ephesians 3:20.
- Serving God allows us to experience God’s presence in new ways.
CONCLUSION: Let our service to God always come from a pure heart. We serve a holy God, the bible says His eyes is too pure to behold iniquities
INVITATION: For you to serve God properly, you must have a relationship with Him
ACTIVITY: Mention 2 (two) dangers of not serving God
LIFE APPLICATION: There is a great price to pay to serve God. One of which is submission and another discipline.
LESSON TWENTY EIGHT (28)
TOPIC: DESIRE GOD’S BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 5:3-4,10-11
MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth,and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.”
LESSON AIM: To let the children know that they will get whatever they desire from God.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Children should desire the blessings of God.
INTRODUCTION: The Psalmist says ‘As the deer pants for water, so I long for you.O God. I thirst for God, the living God. Where can I find him to come and stand before him? Psalm 42:1-2. This means that his heart always long after God’s blessings. As a child you get whatever you desire from God. That means you will need to pay close attention to your thought life
(A) WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO DESIRE?
A strong feeling of wanting to have something or wishing for something to happen
B. WHY SHOULD WE DESIRE GOD’S BLESSING?
- It makes our lives desirable to us and others. Gen 39:5
- It makes witnessing about our Lord Jesus to others effective. Acts 10:38
- God’s blessings ends curses in our lives. Galatians 3:13
- There is no sorrow in the Lord’s blessing. Prov. 10:22
- In His blessing, we receive His presence, peace, protection and prosperity. Num. 6:24-26
C. HOW TO RECEIVE YOU DESIRE BLESSINGS
- Maintain a pure heart – Psalm 24:4
- Have a humble heart – James 4:6
- Have faith in God – James 1:5-7
- Mediate on the word of God – Joshua 1:8
- Maintain a heart free of offence – Acts 24:16
- Never allow sin your heart – Psalm 66:18
- Let your thinking be positive -Philip.4:8
- Believe the word of God
- Position yourself to receive the blessing, Psalms 24:4-6, 1 Peter 2:9.
- Be intentional in rendering services to God. 1 Chronicles 28:9
- Prioritize the presence of God, 2 Samuel 6:11-12
- Cast your care upon the Lord Psalm 55: 22
D. EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO DESIRED GOD’S BLESSINGS
- Jabez – 1chronicles 4:9
- Hannah – 1 Samuel 1:10-11, 20
- David – 1 Samuel 30:1-4
CONCLUSION: God’s blessings are designed to make us stand out from those who do not know Him
INVITATION: Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and every other things shall be added unto you
ACTIVITY: Mention two (2) other people who desired and got God’s blessings
LIFE APPLICATION: No Jesus, No blessings
LESSON TWENTY NINE (29)
TOPIC: BLESSED TO BE A BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 12:1-3
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 11:25 “The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.”
LESSON AIM: To let the children know the importance of being a blessing
CENTRAL TRUTH: As a child you can be a blessing to others.
INTRODUCTION: :As a child of God, you are like a river who needs to flow to other people’s lives by impacting them positively. Remember that stagnant water stinks. It stinks because it keeps collecting water but never flow out.
This stagnant water is likened to a child who keeps collecting gifts but never share gifts with his friends. To be a blessing is to be like river that flow in order to be refreshed.
(A) STEPS IN BECOMING A BLESSING TO OTHERS
- Be born again. 2 Corin. 5:17
- Help without complaining. 2 Corinth 9:7
- Help without expecting favor. 2Corinth. 12:4-7
- Give out of love. 2 Cointh.9:7
- Be compassionate. Mathew 20:34
- Forget yourself and learn to love God above all. Matthew 6:33
- Help without showing off. Be ready to render your help in the secret. Mathew 6:3-4
(B) HOW CAN I BE A BLESSING
- Volunteering for good works. Philippians 2:1-4
- Giving to charity. Hebrews 13:16
- Sharing testimonies.
- Praying for someone in need. 1 Timothy 2:1, James 5:16
- Give someone a listening ear.
- Encouraging and sympathizing with others 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Galatians 6:2
- Spread the Gospel. Matthew 28:19
- Correcting someone going astray James 5:20.
(C) BENEFITS OF BEING A BLESSING
- You gain brother in Christ. Luke 16:9
- You will have a good harvest. 2 Corinthians 9:6
- You practice obedience to Christ.
- Overflowing blessing. Malachi 3:10
- You will enjoy the favour of God
CONCLUSION: There is always an opportunity to bless someone, God won’t force you.
INVITATION: You need an encounter with Jesus Christ to be a blessing to others
ACTIVITY: Memorize Proverbs 11:25
LIFE APPLICATION: When we bless others, we do it as unto the Lord Colossians 3:23-24
LESSON THIRTY (30)
TOPIC: PARENTAL BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 49:1-28
MEMORY VERSE: Exodus 20:12 “Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.”
LESSON AIM: The children will realize the importance of obeying God to honor their parents
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: Honor your parents in the Lord
INTRODUCTION: A parent is the father or mother or care givers. They have more understanding of you because they know you more than you. After God they come next. Parents play a major role and to what their children become later in life. Whether positive or negative role, this depends on the guardian parent in question. This positive influence should be through blessings that our guardians and parents pronounce into our lives. It is mandatory that children get parental blessings since it helps them cope especially when things are actually difficult in life. It is expected of every child to obey their parents in the Lord.
A) WHAT IS PARENTAL BLESSING?
- Positive forces that follow you – Psa 103:13
- Positive words spoken forth over your life – Exo 20:12
- Authority.
- Destiny verdicts issued on a child – Prov 29:17
- Blessings over your destiny – Prov. 1:8
(B) BENEFITS OF PARENTAL BLESSING
- Wellness in lite.
- Long Life – Psa 91:16
- Divine favour – Prov 3:4
- Supernatural speed
- Divine help – Psa 46:1
- Prevail over foes – Luke 20:43
Fruitfulness – John 15:8
C) HOW TO CONNECT WITH PARENTAL BLESSING
Having known what parental blessings are, how then do you access them?
For some people, it could be easy for them to access these blessings because their biological parents are still alive and are readily reached. Below are the keys you can use to unlock your parental blessings.
- Give them gifts: One way to unlock this kind of blessing is by giving gifts to your parents or guardians.
- Acts of kindness.
- Provide for them: Genesis 27:9
- Obey your parents. Ephesian 6:1. The Bible said when you obey your parents you are doing what is right and you cannot be doing what is right and go wrong in life.
- Honor them. Ephesians 6:2
- Show them love.
- Be proud of them in the presence of your friends.
- Never join yourself to bad friends. 1 Cor. 15:13
- Run errand for them.
- Never lie to them.
- Surrender your life to Jesus Christ.
D) Implication of Parental curses
- It limits potential Genesis 49:4
- It attracts other curses of life
- It leads to division
- Spiritual and physical barrenness
- Demotion of all sorts
- Breakdown instead of breakthroughs
- No helpers.
- Resistance in the place of enthronement
CONCLUSION: Parents surely have positive influences in our journey here on earth
INVITATION: To get the best of God through your parents, give Him your life
ACTIVITY: Mention four (4) ways you can appreciate your parents
LIFE APPLICATION: Honor your mother and father Exodus 20:12 this is one of the Ten Commandments that brings blessings
LESSON THIRTY-ONE (31)
TOPIC: SPIRITUAL PARENTS BLESSING
BIBLE TEXT: 2 Kings 4:1-7
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Corinthians 4:15 “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel”
LESSON AIM: To make the children know and identify the importance of spiritual parents
CENTRAL TRUTH: God put our spiritual leaders as a ‘check’ for us
INTRODUCTION: A religious teacher or guide over your lite is your spiritual parent. You need to do a soul searching through prayers to locate the right one for you.
Spiritual parents don’t need us, we need them for everything; God put them over our lives for our spiritual well being.
(A) ATTRIBUTES OF SPIRITUAL PARENTS. 2 Thess 3:6, Gal.4:19
- They are Discipler
- Someone whom you can open your heart to.
- One with Integrity.
- Mentor/Coach.
- Someone who corrects.
- Someone who counsels.
- More than a God parent
- Provide spiritual covering and protection.
- They Pray for us
- They Guides us
- They are matured believer.
- They fear God and teach us the way of God.
(B) BENEFITS OF HAVING SPIRITUAL PARENTS.
- They are our role models
- We are accountable to them
- They give us affirmation an encouragement
4.They give good and godly advice - They help us to grow spiritually.
- They help us to grow to maturity.
(C) HOW TO ACCESS SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS FROM OUR SPIRITUAL PARENTS:
- Be alert the Spirit when you are with them 2 Kings 2:10
- Through Honor and respect – Romans 13:7
- Through service – Mark 10:35-45
- Bless them with resources whether materially or financially – 1 Corinthians 9:11
- Praying for them- Hebrews 13:17-19
- Believe them – Hebrews 13:7
- Obey them – Hebrews 13:17
- Always be in touch with them. Elisha could have been somewhere else on the day Elijah was to be taken away. 2 Kings 2:1-2
(D) EXAMPLE OF SPIRITUAL PARENTS IN THE BIBLE:
a. Moses and Joshua. Joshua 1:7
b. Eli and Samuel – 1Samuel 3:2-10
C. Elijah and Elisha 2 Kings 2:9-14
d. Paul and Timothy 1Tim1:2
e. Jesus and his disciples. Mark 3:13-19
CONCLUSION: You are always accountable to your spiritual parents because they too will need to give account of you to God at the end of their race on earth. Note that God can use spiritual parents to cancel any curse place on our lives or family.
INVITATION: You will need a personal relation with God for Him to guide you in making His choice of spiritual parents for you.
ACTIVITY: Prayerfully let God lead you in choosing spiritual parents
LIFE APPLICATION: Obey, honor and respect your spiritual parents in the Lord
