LESSON FORTY SIX (46)
TOPIC: BEATITUDES
BIBLE TEXT: Matthew 5:1-12

MEMORY VERSE: John 13:17″ If ye know these things happy are ye if ye do them.”

LESSON AIM: To let the children know there is joy and blessing in obeying the Commandments of God.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Blessedness of Salvation

INTRODUCTION: Beatitudes means Blessedness or well being. It means more than being happy because happiness is an emotion that often depend on outward circumstances.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHAT IS BEATITUDES?

  1. The Beatitudes are the eight blessings recounted by Jesus in the sermon on the mount in the gospel of Mathew.
  2. Beatitude translate to happy, rich or blessed.
  3. The blessings listed by Jesus in the sermon on the Mount. Mathew 5:3-11
  4. Supreme blessedness of happiness.
  5. Being blessed or at least feeling blessed is often linked to beatitude.

B. THE BEATITUDES (Mathew 5:3-11)

  1. Blessed are the poor in Spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  2. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
    3 Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth
  3. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be filled
  4. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy
    6.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
  5. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God
  6. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake; for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
  7. Blessed are ye when men shall say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake, rejoice and be exceeding glad for great is your reward in heaven.

CONCLUSION: For you to enter the kingdom of God you must follow the teaching of the Beatitudes

LESSON FORTY SEVEN (47)
TOPIC: REPENTANCE
BIBLE TEXT: Jonah 3:1-10

MEMORY VERSE: Acts 3:19 “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.”

LESSON AIM: To let the children the importance of repentance

CENTRAL TRUTH: Repentance is necessary for Salvation

INTRODUCTION: Jonah was sent by God to the people Nineveh to tell them of the imminent wrath of God upon them if they fail to turn from their wicked ways.
When they heard the warning, they believed God and proclaimed a fast seeking for God’s mercy. When God saw that they had turned from their evil ways (repented). God forgave them.

A.) THINGS TO NOTE ABOUT REPENTANCE
1,) Repentance involves recognizing you have done wrong in the past and deciding to do right going forward which begins with accepting Jesus – Matt 4:17
2.) The evidence of repentance is seen in the positive change of our lifestyle.
Repentance is not all about a change in our mind, sober feeling or confession from our mouth. It results into noticeable and evident changes in our lives. Luke 3:10-14
3.) Godly Sorrow leads to repentance. 2 Cor. 7:10
Repentance entails being sad because of one’s bad way of living leading one to turn away from such bad lifestyle, to Christ and his righteous lifestyle.
There is however, a worldly sorrow, which also makes one sad for one’s bad way of living but makes the person feel there’s no hope for a better lifestyle.
Thus, leading the person to death. Matthew 27:3-5
4.) Repentance is also required if one falls back to sin even after being born again. Psalm 51:1-10

B. STEPS TO REPENTANCE
1.) Acknowledge your sins. Psalm 51:5
2.) Confess your sins. 1John.1:9
3.) Forsake your sins Prov. 28:13
4) Turn to Jesus, believe and accept him.
5.) Bear fruits of repentance. Matthew 3:8

C. BENEFITS OF REPENTANCE
i. Becoming a joint-heir with Jesus. Romans 8:17
ii. God will be pleased with you.
iii. All your prayers will be answered.
iv. Your enemies will be at peace with you
v. Divine protection.

D. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE THAT REPENTED REPENTANCE
i Apostle Paul – Acts 9:6, 20
ii. Prodigal son -Luke 15:18-20
iii. Zacchaeus – Luke 19:1-8
iv. City of Nineveh- Jonah 3:6-8

CONCLUSION: True repentance is prompted by godly sorrow for sin and it leads to Salvation. – 2 Corinthians 7:10

LESSON FORTY EIGHT (48)
TOPIC: SANCTIFICATION
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 35:1-4

MEMORY VERSE: JOHN 17:17 “Sanctify them through the truth; thy word is truth.”

LESSON AIM: To let the children know they must be holy

CENTRAL TRUTH: Present yourself Holy to God.

INTRODUCTION: When God appeared to Jacob and told him to return to Bethel. He commanded his household and all who were with him to get rid of the foreign god they had with them. They should purify themselves and to change their clothes.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHAT IS SANCTIFICATION?
*Sanctification is the process of setting oneself aside for God’s use. 2 Tim. 2:19
*It is the separation from unclean things and separation unto God. 2 Cor. 6:17
*It is purging ourselves of sin. 2 Tim. 2:21.

B. WHY DO I NEED TO BE SANCTIFIED
1.) To get rid of sinful lifestyle and habits. Romans 6:12-13
2.) To renew our mind in line with God’s word. Romans 12:2
3.) To exhibit the fruit of the Spirit. Gal.5:22-24
4.) To be fit for God’s Use. 2 Tim.2:21
5.) To be one more like Christ.
6.) Not to fall into temptation

C). HOW TO BE SANCTIFIED
1.) By Reading, Studying, Meditating on God’s Word. John 17:17, 2 Cor. 3:18.
2.) Submission and Obedience to God’s word.
3.) Prayer Matthew 26:41
4.) Through the help of The Holy Spirit- Room 15:16, 1 Thess. 4:3-4
5.) Blood of Jesus- Heb.10:29

D. HOW TO MAINTAIN A SANCTIFIED LIFE.
i. Complete dependence on the Holy spirit. John 14:26
ii. Taking heed to God’s word
iii. Resist temptation. James 4:7
iv. Flee from Sins. 2 Tim. 2:22
v. Set heaven as a goal that must not be missed

CONCLUSION: It is only a sanctified life that God the Father can use.

LESSON FORTY NINE (49)
TOPIC: CONSECRATION
BIBLE TEXT: Romans 12:1-2

MEMORY VERSE: 2 Corinthians 6 :7 “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you”

LESSON AIM: To let the children know the need to be dedicated to God.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Be holy for our God is holy

INTRODUCTION: In worshipping the living God, our mind, heart and will must be involve in obedient service so that God can honour us and accept us. We must set ourselves apart for God’s use.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHAT IS CONSECRATION

  1. Consecration is giving yourself to the Lord to become a living sacrifice – Rom. 12:1
  2. Consecration means sanctification, holiness or purity
  3. To make holy – Rom 6:13
  4. Separation of oneself from things that are unclean, especially anything that would contaminate ones relationship with a perfect God.
  5. Consecration is the offering up of a whole life to God -1Cor. 6:20
  6. Living for God -1 Peter 2:9

B. PURPOSE OF CONSECRATION

  1. So that the will of God may be done in your life- Heb.14:20-21
  2. So that you can be a vessel of honour.
  3. To show you love Jesus and you belong to Him alone
  4. To show you have been redeemed- 1 PT 1:18-19
  5. To retain the presence of God in your life – Psalms 91
  6. To make the anointing( fullness of the Holy Spirit) to continue to flow in your life.-Heb 1:9
  7. To make the blessing of God overflow in your life. – Exodus 32:29

C. BIBLICAL CHARACTERS THAT LIVED A CONSECRATED LIVES

  1. Jesus Christ
  2. Apostle Paul
  3. Isaac
  4. Samuel
  5. Joseph

D. EXAMPLES OF PEOPLE WHO BROKE THEIR CONSECRATION IN THE BIBLE
i. Samson’s consecration was broken by his disobedience and lust for strange women (Judges 14:1-3, 8,9).
ii. Prophetess Miriam’s consecration was broken by envy (Numbers 12:1-10).
iii. Gideon’s consecration was broken by pride. (Judges 7:20-22; 8:22-27).
iv. Prophet Moses’ consecration was broken by anger (Exodus 14:21-28, Numbers 20:7-12).
v. King David’s consecration was contaminated adultery. (1 Samuel 11:1-27).

CONCLUSION: Consecration is the giving of your life to God for His will instead of your own will. For us to enjoy all spiritual blessings in Christ Jesus,we must be willing to make a conscious decision to dedicate your soul, mind, heart, and body to God.

LESSON FIFTY (50)
TOPIC: SECOND COMING OF CHRIST
BIBLE TEXT: Acts 1:1-11

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Thessalonians 3:13 “To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in Holiness before God, even our father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

LESSON AIM: To let the children know about the second coming of Christ

CENTRAL TRUTH: JESUS IS COMING BACK AGAIN

INTRODUCTION: The disciples of Jesus asked him about restoring the kingdom again to Isi but he replied that they will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them. After that he was taken up to heaven. They were looking up to heaven as Jesus was going up then suddenly two men appeared in white telling them Jesus will come back in the same way they have seen him gone into heaven.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHAT IS SECOND COMING – Matt. 24:21-22

  1. The second coming is the term used to refer to the future events when Jesus return to earth, conquer His enemies and reign as king of this world.
  2. Expected return to earth of Jesus Christ, sometimes called second Advent.

B. WHY IS JESUS COMING BACK- John 14:3, 1 Cor 15:25-26

  1. To set up His kingdom
  2. To judge His enemies
  3. To reward the faithful
  4. To receive the saints to himself
  5. To destroy death.

C. STAGES OF HIS COMING

  1. The rapture(catching away)
  2. When the LORD comes with His saints to set up the millennium -1 Thess 4:16-17

HOW CAN WE GET READY FOR JESUS SECOND COMING?
i. Be sober and vigilant. 1 Peter 5:8
ii. Be expectant. Luke 19:27
iii. Be spirit filled. Ephesians 5:18
iv. Living a righteous life. Titus 2:11-13
v. Be prayerful. 1 Peter 4:7, Matthew 26:41
vi. Have faith in God. 1 Peter 1:5
vii. Guard your salvation. Philippians. 2:12
viii. Fear God. Ecclesiastes 12:13

E. SIGNS OF HIS COMING

  1. The signs of our physical world. Matt 24:7, Luke 21:11
  2. The decadence in our society. Matthew 24:12, 2 Timothy 3:1-5
  3. The spiritual signs. Positive signs: Matthew 24:14, Joel 2:28-32. Negative signs: Matthew 24:5, 1 Timothy 4:1, Matthew 24:9
  4. Increase in knowledge: Daniel 12:4

CONCLUSION:
Beyond any doubt the Second coming of Jesus is certain and earnest, because the bible talks about it, Jesus Himself said it, the angel of the Lord confirmed it to the disciples, its therefore dangerous to think or be deceived that Jesus won’t come again, everyone of us is therefore encouraged to live in preparedness of Jesus coming every moment of our life, as nobody knows how soon he will return again.
