LESSON FORTY FOUR (44)
TOPIC: TITHING

TEXT: Malachi 3:8-10
[8]Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
[9]Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
[10]Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

MEMORY VERSE: Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be Room enough to receive it”.

LESSON AIM: To let the children know the benefits of tithing.

CENTRAL TRUTH: We are commanded to bring our tithe to the church.

INTRODUCTION: When the Israelites conquered the land of Canaan, God choose the priests and Levites for an inheritance. God made their livelihood to come from the tithes of the other tribes who will give a tenth of their increase to support the priesthood.

STUDY GUIDE
A. WHAT IS TITHING?

1. Tithing is the practice of setting aside 10 percent of your increase or profit to support the work of God.
2. A tenth of ones income giving to a local church
3. Offering ten percent of your regular income to God.

B. WHY DO YOU TITHE? MALACHI 3:10

1. So that there may be food in God’s house.
2. So that God can open the windows of heaven and give additional Blessings.
3. So that God can rebuke the devourer.
4. So that the fruit of our ground will not be destroyed.
5. For the vine not to fail to bear fruit in the field.
6. To be a faithful Christan
7. To show our love and obedience to God
8. To give God number one place in our life
9. To show appreciation to God.

C. WHAT ARE THE DANGERS OF NOT PAYING TITHE?

1. The person is a robber- Malachi 3:8
2. The person is cursed- Malachi 3:9
3. The person will experience closed-heaven –Malachi 3:9

CONCLUSION: Abraham paid tithe to Melchizedek a priest of God and since we want Abraham’s blessing, we ought to pay tithe like him

INVITATION: for your tithe to be acceptable you need to give your life to Jesus Christ.
