LESSON THREE (3)
TOPIC: GOD THE SON

BIBLE TEXT: John 1:1-18
[1]In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2]The same was in the beginning with God.
[3]All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[4]In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5]And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
[6]There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7]The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
[8]He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9]That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
[10]He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
[11]He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
[12]But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
[13]Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
[14]And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
[15]John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
[16]And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
[17]For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
[18]No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.

MEMORY VERSE: John 1:17 “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.”

LESSON AIM: To let the children know who God the son is.

CENTRAL TRUTH: God the son is Jesus Christ

INTRODUCTION: Jesus Christ was with God in the beginning. All things were made by Him and without Him was not anything made that was made. Grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. God the son is the second person in the Trinity.

A. WHO IS GOD THE SON

  1. He is God. John. 1:2
  2. He is the son of God. John 5:18, John 6:69
  3. He is the second person of the Trinity. Matthew 28:19
  4. He is our teacher. John 3:2
  5. He is the bread of life. John 6:41
  6. He is the Lamb of God. John 1:36
  7. He is the soon coming king. 1 Thessalonians 5:23
  8. He is the prince of peace. Isaiah 9:6
  9. He is our Advocate and high priest. Hebrews 4:14
  10. He is the first begotten of the dead. Revelation 1:5
  11. He is the savior of the world.

B. WORKS OF GOD THE SON
a. God the son defeated sin, Satan & death when he rose from the grave. 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
b. All things were created through God the son and for him. Colossians 1:16b
c. God the son paid for our sins with His blood that was shed
d. God the son offer us redemption (salvation)
e. God the son made our sin to be forgiven. Mark 2:5
f. God the son offers us eternal life. John 1:4

C. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF THOSE THAT GOD THE SON SAVED

  1. The woman at the well. John 4:49-44
  2. Sinful woman with Alabaster jar. Luke 7:37
  3. Matthew the tax collector. Matthew 9:9-13
  4. Mad man of Gadarene. Luke 8:35
  5. Prodigal son. Luke 15: 20-24

LIFE APPLICATION: For you to really benefit from the works of God the Son, you must give your life to him.

CONCLUSION: God the father has declared to the world that Jesus Christ is His Son and that is why He is called God the son. Therefore, when you come to Jesus Christ you are coming to God the son.
