LESSON TWENTY THREE (23)
TOPIC: PATIENCE

BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 29:16-30; Romans 12:12; Psalm 40:1, 8:25; Ephesians 4:2

MEMORY VERSE: Ephesians 4:2b “Be patient, bearing with one another in love.

LESSON AIM: God is patient woth tou and want you to be too.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Patience is a Godly virtue.

INTRODUCTION:
God takes His time to make a tree,
A tiny babe or a bumblebee.
He makes them slow so we can see
And know the way we ought to be.
The farmer’s work is very slow,
Waiting for the seed to grow.
He must have a lot of faith,
To plant his garden and to wait.
Go slow but don’t just stop or we may never reach the top.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS.
A. Now Laban had two daughters, the name of the elder was Leah, the name of the younger was Rachel. vs. 16
B. Leah’s eyes were deviate, but Rachel was beautiful of form and appearance. vs. 17
C. Now Jacob loved Rachael, so he said “I will serve you seven years for Rachel your younger daughter. vs.18
Yes, Jacob loved Rachel! but do you know that God loves you more than the love Jacob had for Rachel, God loves you, so He gave you His only son Jesus to die for your sins, so you can be forgiven John 3:16
D. Laban agreed, so Jacob served him seven years and they seemed only a few days to him because of the love he had for her. vs. 19,20
E. Then Jacob said to Laban “Give me my wife for my days are fulfilled. And Laban gathered together all the men of the place and made a feast. vs 21, 22
F. Now it came to pass in the evening that Latin took Leah his daughter and brought her to Jacob. Vs. 23 Laban gave Leah instead of Rachel, that is deception and it is a sin. Have you also deceive someone before? It is a sin. What is a sin?
G. In the morning Jacob saw it was Leah instead of Rachel that he said to Laban “what is this you have done to me? Was it not for Rachel that I served you? Why then have you deceived me?
And Laban said “it must not be done so in our country to give younger before first born. We will give you this one also if you will serve with me still another seven years.

CLIMAX: Then Jacob served again another seven years, so he gave him his daughter Rachel as wife also.
Jacob patiently served another seven years again to have Rachel. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ patiently endured the pain on the cross, gave His blood, died to have you saved from the punishment of your sin. He was buried and He rose again the third day and went back to heaven. He is coming back again for you if you have received Him as your Saviour.

CONCLUSION: Jacob got his wife Rachel and he also loved Rachel more than Leah and he served with Laban still another seven years.

CHALLENGE: As a child of God, God expects you to be patient in all situations. When you ask or need something from God or someone or you are going through a situation God expect you to wait patiently trusting that you will received it. James 5:8-12, Psalm 37:7.

INVITATION: Accept Jesus as your Saviour John 1: 12.
