LESSON THIRTY SIX (36)
TOPIC: EXCELLENT SPIRIT

BIBLE TEXT: Daniel 5:12
Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 8:33. “Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.”

LESSON AIM: God has given you an excellent spirit.

CHILD RELATED TRUTH: Allow the Holy Spirit teach you all things.

INTRODUCTION: God is happy when you are doing your best, may be your big brother or sister can carry a big pile of wood, but you can only carry a small pile because your arms are not strong yet, but does that matter? No, because you are both doing your best! So do not get discouraged and pout if you are not good at everything. Just ask God to help you to do your very best.

PROGRESSING OF EVENTS.
A. King Belshazzar held great banquet. v.1
B. At the King’s command the temple vessels from Jerusalem were brought in; and he and his nobles drank wine from them while they praised their false gods. vs 2,3
(King Belshazzar dishonor God by defying the temple’s vessels, that is a sin). What is a sin?
C. As the king and his men purified and drank from the temple vessels, part of a hand appeared and wrote on the wall, frightening the king. vs 5,6
D. Although, the king offered his wise men a reward, they were unable to interpret the message. vs 7-9
E. The queen told King Belshazzar to call Daniel. vs 10-12. Daniel was called because he has an excellent spirit.
F. Daniel was brought in and he confronted the King with his sin. vs 13:23
God will not let you get away with your sin Romans 3:23.
There is punishment for sin Roman 3:26, But God loves you and do not want you punished so he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for your sins to be taken away John 3:16
G. Daniel interpreted the writing.
MENE (Numbered) – Your days are numbered.
TEKEL (Weighed) – You have fallen short of God’s standard.
UPHARSIN (Divided) – Your kingdom has been divided and given to Medes and Peresians. vs 24-28. Daniel was endowed with Excellent Spirit so he could interpret the strange hand on the wall.
H. King Belshazzar promised to reward Daniel, but that night the enemies invaded Babylon and the king was killed. vs 29-31

CLIMAX: Because King Belshazzar purposely defiled God, He lost his kingdom and his life.

CONCLUSION: God gave Daniel favour and he continued to serve under the new King Darius.

CHALLENGE: Daniel was endowed with an excellent spirit because he feared and honored God with his life. But for King Belshazzar, he lost his kingdom and his life because he did not honor God.
As a child of God, you need to be careful how you live your life.(Hebrew 12:5-11). God will always reward His good people and also punish the sinful.

INVITATION: If you have not received the Lord Jesus as your savior, your sin will separate you from God. Receive Jesus today. John 1:12
