RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2022/2023
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 4TH OF SEPTEMBER, 2022
LESSON ONE (01)
TOPIC: THE TRINITY

BIBLE TEXT: Mark 1:9-11; John 14:7-26, 15:23, 16:13
[9]And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan.
[10]And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
[11]And there came a voice from heaven, saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

John 14:7-26
[7]If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
[8]Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.
[9]Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?
[10]Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
[11]Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
[12]Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
[13]And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
[14]If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
[15]If ye love me, keep my commandments.
[16]And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17]Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
[18]I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
[19]Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
[20]At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
[21]He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
[22]Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
[23]Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
[24]He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
[25]These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
[26]But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:23
He that hateth me hateth my Father also.

John 16:13
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

MEMORY VERSE: Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

LESSON AIM: The children will learn and have a broad knowledge of the three in one God.

CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: God is three Persons in One

INTRODUCTION:
Children! The bible teaches us that God is three unique persons but one God. He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. This may be difficult to understand. Have you ever eaten an apple? There are basically three parts – the skin, the flesh, and the core, All the parts are still one apple, yet they are all uniquely different. How many of you like eating apples and noticed that an apple has three parts and yet it is still one apple? (Give the children room to answer the question}. The Trinity is still more complex; the Father, the Son & the Holy Spirit are more than a ‘part’ of God. They each are God and One God.

PROGRESSION OF EVENT: Mark 1:9-11; John 14:7-26, 15:23, 16:13

  1. One day Jesus came from Nazareth to Galilee to be baptized by John the Baptist in the River Jordan (Mark 1:9)
  2. As Jesus came out of the water, He saw the heavens split apart and the Holy Spirit descended on Him like a dove
  3. A voice from heaven said You are my dearly loved Son, and You bring me joy
  4. Jesus later said to His disciples that “if you know Me, You already know the Father because We are One” (John 14:7)
  5. Jesus told His disciples that He will pray to the Father to give them another comforter who will stay with them forever (John 14:16)

GOSPEL CONNECTION: We know Who God is; He is our creator and He loves us. We know Who Jesus is; He saved us by dying on the cross by shedding His precious blood. And we know the Holy Spirit is the Helper and comforter from God the Father to be with us always. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit each have qualities that make them unique while contributing to the full nature of God (Isaiah 9:6)
The Comforter is the Holy Ghost who God will send in the name of Jesus that will teach all things and bring everything Jesus has taught and said into remembrance (John 14:26)

CLIMAX: Later, Jesus promised to send the Comforter from the Father who will testify of Him (John 15:26)

CONCLUSION: The Holy Spirit will guide you in all truth because whatever He hears He will speak and show you things that will happen (John 16:13)

CHALLENGE: We cannot see Jesus, but He promised to always be with us. He has given us a special helper to take care of our hearts which is the Holy Spirit from the Father. As a child who trusts in Jesus as Lord and Saviour, God wants you to know that He is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. As the Father, He loves us with an everlasting love which He demonstrated by sending Jesus, His beloved Son to die for our sins. Jesus promised the Holy Spirit, and it provides us comfort and hope. The Holy Spirit works through us, as well, to serve others and tell them about Christ. We know from scripture that God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit make up the three distinct parts of the Trinity.

INVITATION: Jesus wants you to trust Him as Lord and Saviour to be able to understand the trinity (Proverbs 3:5-6).
