LESSON EIGHT (08)
TOPIC: THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
BIBLE TEXT: Acts 2:1-4
[1]And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2]And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3]And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4]And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance..
MEMORY VERSE: Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth”
LESSON AIM: To let the children know what is the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
CENTRAL TRUTH: Baptism of the Holy Spirit is important in the life of a believer.
INTRODUCTION: Before Jesus Christ went back to heaven. He commanded his disciples to wait in Jerusalem until they be endued with power of the Holy Ghost. On the day of Pentecost they were all with one accord in the upper room praying and the Holy Spirit came upon them filled them and they began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

A. MODE OF RECEIVING THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
- Through laying of hands- Acts 8:14-17, 1 Timothy 4:14
- Conviction at salvation- Acts 10:44-45
- He can come spontaneously if desired conditions are met. Acts 10:44
- Praying for baptism of the Holy Ghost – Luke 11:10-13, Acts 5:32
- Baptism can take place without any human contact- Acts 2:1-4

B. CONDITIONS FOR RECEIVING THE BAPTISM OF THE SPIRIT
- Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.
- Ask in faith.
- Be thirsty for the infilling of the Holy Ghost.
- Believe that as you ask you will receive.
- Stay away from sin.
- Meditate on the word of God.
- Make yourself available for service.
C. EVIDENCE OF SPEAKING IN TONGUES – (Acts 2: 4, Acts 10:46, Acts 19:6).
- Speaking in other tongues is the immediate evidence that you have been baptized of the Holy Spirit.
- Speaking in an unknown language to the speaker.
LIFE APPLICATION: If you want to be used by God then you must be baptized of the Holy Ghost.
CONCLUSION: Holy Spirit baptism is an empowerment for service in the household of God.
