LESSON TWENTY NINE (29)
TOPIC: DEALING WITH ADDICTION

BIBLE TEXTS: 1 Corinthians 6:12-14
[12]All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
[13]Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
[14]And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.

1 THESSALONIANS 5:21-22
[21]Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
[22]Abstain from all appearance of evil.

MEMORY VERSE: 1 Cor 6:12 “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any”.

LESSON AIM: To teach the teens the dangers of addiction and how to avoid it.

CENTRAL TRUTH: Addiction destroys life and destiny.

OPENING QUESTION: How can you break-free from habits turned addition.

INTRODUCTION: Addiction is the condition of being unable to refrain from an habit, a dependence on something, which has a temporary gratification and eventually results into bondage. The gratification is temporary otherwise people will not keep going back for more of such thing. Addiction according to 1 Cor 6:12 is to be “brought under the power of something”, to lack control over doing, or using the thing to the point where it is potentially hazardous to you. Usually, we associate addiction to vices such as gambling, drugs, alcohol, and smoking, but one can be addicted to just about anything.

All things are lawful (you can do anything) but not all things are expedient (You cannot do all things). (Teenagers to site examples).
