RCCG LOWER JUNIOR ZEAL FOR 2021/2022
AGE 6-8 TEACHER’S MANUAL
SUNDAY 3RD OF JULY, 2022
LESSON FORTY FOUR (44)
TOPIC: TITHING
BIBLE TEXT: Genesis 14:11-24
[11]And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
[12]And they took Lot, Abram’s brother’s son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
[13]And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
[14]And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
[15]And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
[16]And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
[17]And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king’s dale.
[18]And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
[19]And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
[20]And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
[21]And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
[22]And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
[23]That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
[24]Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
MEMORY VERSE: Malachi 3:10 “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now
herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room
enough to receive it.
LESSON AIM: The children should know that tithe is exclusively for God.
CHILD-RELATED TRUTH: You receive blessings when you pay your tithes and give your offerings.
INTRODUCTION: Tithing has always been the floor, not the ceiling, of giving to God’s work. In other words, tithing is the place to begin, not
the place to end in supporting God’s kingdom business.
Tithing is giving to God ten percent of your earnings. It is a commandment with a promise Malachi 3:10b “And try Me now in this says the LORD of hosts” if I will not open the windows of
heaven and pour out for you much blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. Your blessing is tied to your obedience of
God’s word.

PROGRESSION OF EVENTS:
Then they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their provisions and went their way. (Sodom and Gomorrah was a sinful city, sin has consequences. You too have sinned according to Romans 3:23. And the punishment for sin is death. Romans 3:26. God will punish sin but He loves you and does not want you to be punished so He gave His Son as the penalty for your punishment. John 3:16.
B. Now when Abram heard that his nephew was taken captive he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants and went in pursuit as far as Dan. They attacked them and brought back all the goods and also Lot as well as the women and other people.
C. The tithe of all was given by Abraham, Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. blessed God the Most High who had delivered his enemies into his hands.
CLIMAX: Abraham gave him a tithe of all. Giving tithe is important.
CONCLUSION: The tithe was recognized as God’s. We should always refer to it as God’s tithe not my tithe. People in the Old Testament didn’t give a tithe but repaid it to the Owner of all things.
Rarely does the Bible speak of giving a tithe, but rather of “taking,” “presenting.” or even ‘”paying” tithes. No one ever said, “I feel led to
tithe.” The tithe was explicit and objective. It required no heart response. It was expected. Offerings, on the other hand, were given from the heart when touched by God’s grace.
CHALLENGE: You too should pay your tithe to God through your pastor in church.
INVITATION: Receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior. John 1:12
